Hey guys, I help moderate part of a local forum that has a good blend of guys when it comes to offroaders. I was hoping, with the recent influx of newer blood on our site, that someone had a good link/guide/faq of basic recovery methods and safe practices that I could pass on, as I really dont want to see anyone get hurt because of a lack of info/education. Most of the guys round here, being new blood, are using straps and smaller trucks (aka not H1's lol), but are offroading in all sorts of terrain (water, mud, sand, snow) with very few using winches or doing any sort of crawling, so the more that the info you recommend pertains to strap-type recoveries, the better.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a good guide or resources to compile a guide of proper and safe recovery techniques, preferably with some pictures too for good measure?

Im very familiar with that link you posted, and thank you for doing so, but unfortunately that link mainly concerns recoveries involving winches mainly. Around here, most of the guys arent hardcore enough to have dropped the dime for an aftermarket winch, and as such are just using straps, clevis', etc.
Thanks though!

Re: Proper Recovery Practices Guide/faq?
I decided that in the best interest of the board and its members I moderate, and the safety of those on the trail, and being that I work in a parts shop, that I began advertising very steeply discounted pricing on a whole bunch of recovery hitches, clevis' & shackles, and in a couple of weeks will be doing the same with tow/snatch straps. Im hoping this, along side with the encouragement of more experienced others in the scene, will help increase (even just mildly) the safety element on the trails, and help outfit vehicles properly on the trail. Its great working in a shop where I have such flexibility on pricing structures, and a boss who fully encourages this promotion.
Anyone else with great guides to strap-recoveries, etc, please post em up.
