Re: Replacement Bulbs
I got some GE Nighthawks from Canadian Tire and I'd say they are a good bit better than the stock bulbs, about $50 for a pair? Roughly $50 if I remember... Pretty decent bulbs and you'll notice the difference, but don't expect miracles out of these ones.
Next best is something like a PIAA brand bulb and those go about $120 a pair? Really nice bulbs, nice white light and very bright but a little pricey. You can usually find these pretty easy at a Napa parts store.
Then the best upgrade of all is some HID xenon lights like what's in all the Euroean cars, BMW Mercedes etc. I'm planning on a set of these suckers since they're SO nice to drive with, but you can plan on $300-$400 for a nice kit. They need some wiring done and the installation of the ballasts, so they're more work than the other bulb types but definitely worth the money if you don't mind the extra work.
FYI on the Canadian Tire bulbs... I've tried every bulb they sell at Canadian Tire and the GE bulbs are the only ones that seem to last longer than a year! So in my opinion those are really the ones to go with, since $50 a pair is pricey to begin with they better last a few years! My 2 cents...

Re: Replacement Bulbs
Well I, like JL, put in the Nighthawks and I do like them as they are about 10% brighter than stocks bulbs. I didn't realize that PIAA made a stand alone bulb as I probably would have gone that way as I do like brighter headlights.
I know the stock bulbs on my H3 were horrible so I got new bulbs from the dealer which were brighter - but no different than Nighthawks and twice the price....
So either way is worth doing - I'd love the see the difference with the PIAA bulbs.
Buddy of ours did the HID lights and they are totally awesome..... but friggin blinding when you drive straight at him!!! those things are BRIGHT!!!!

Re: Replacement Bulbs
I run PIAA in Everything I own, Xtreme White Plus for all my headlights and driving lights and Ion Crystal for my fog lights and one set of 550's as well on on H2. I have 10 extra lights on the front and 4 more on the back for backing up and tailgaters on my H2 and just starting to accesorize the SUT now with lighting.
There are lots of aftermarket bulb that are Not DOT approved as well including some HID conversions.
I would like to try HID Headlights once I find a set that is fully approved and dependable and have heard both good and bad in the forums about them. No Better light out there, but waiting till I see a set in operation in an H2 that I like. Or maybe LED replacements ?? <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/c-n.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':coffeenose:' />
My brother runs the Cdn. Tire bulbs too because of cheaper price as PIAA is not cheap... I think he put in the Sylvania Silverstars <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ght_on.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':right_on:' />
The H2 uses a 9007 Bulb and The PIAA chart show the H3 is an H13 that they make now too in Xtreme White Plus and list a Kelvin rating of 4000K for both models. GE lists as 3700K
The One Year Replacement Warranty is good, but I Always carry the spare stock bulbs in the package and the Receipt in the Glove Box or console so I have a spare headlight bulb and can change it anytime and avoid giving the boys any reason to pull you over for a burnt out bulb and the store needs the reciept and the box or package to honor your replacement too.
