Hello to all...
Unfortunately I am not able to get on this site as much as I would like to! I saw the postings regarding HOPE in Canada...and it made me think...a bit off this 'track'..but on one very close to my heart and home... I am a parent volunteer and fundraiser for the LINKS Program at Variety Village, Scarborough, Ontario. My son attends this adult day program...and this is briefly what the program is about:
LINKS ADULT Day Program called LINKS !!
It is a very important program for adults 21 years old who have very limited place they can go and be supervised, cared for and learn new valuable skills.
from Jamie....At the LINKS PROGRAM we learn life skills such as baking, making grocery lists and shopping, do science experiments, money math and reading We also stock the vending machines and count the money in the cafeteria. We also exercise, yoga and guided imagery We also have outings to the community library to learn how to sign out and library books.. i have my own library card and bag. We also run a LINKS Treat Trolley every Tuesday where we bake goods and sell them to the staff and the visitors at the Village for 50 cents. This helps the LINKS Program help raise money for community outings.
My staff in the L.I.N.K.S. program are awesome! They are helpful, supportive and make each day lots of fun.
I wake up in the morning and am excited to go to my L.I.N.K.S. Program
****************************We do raffles, silent auctions and various fundraisers for the LINKS Program...Does anyone in Hummer Canada Land have any ideas for the kids and young adults...who would be thrilled and in awe to see a string of Hummers pull through the parking lot
..just putting it out there for any ideas from some fellow kind hearted hummer drivers who love to help raise money for a good cause!
Many thanks...dee
