To Lift or to Level that is the question!

Post by Spyder »

Hey guys I have a 07 H2 SUT, thinking on possibly putting a 6" Fab Tech lift on it or possibly using a leveling kit and throwing some 37" tires on it either way. Any body have any ideas on which is better and cost? Or possibly different brands. Keep in mind I'm in the States LOL! Colorado to be exact.

If what you really want is the 37"s then a level has gotta be the way to go! You can 1) get the kits with the re-indexed keys and they're not too pricey, or 2) the stock torsion bars are adjustable so you can actually just turn the bolts and level the front for ZERO dollars! You need an alignment after but that's pretty cheap... Cheaper than the Fabtech that's for sure! But the H2 does look nice with that lift... Gaza on the site here has the 6" Fabtech and some 38"s, looks great... Tons of people do the torsion bar level, just don't adjust the bars too far up. An extra 1.25" - 1.50" is all you need for the tires to clear so I wouldn't recommend going any more than needed.

But yeah, if 37"s are what you're really after then turning up the torsion bars has gotta be the way to go!

Hey Spyder!

The 6" lifts look totally awesome - there are picture's of Gaza's rig around if you want to have a look at his.

Don't forget that these are very expensive, you will also need to widen your stance in the process and upgrade your front end (Which you should do regardless).

I did a T-Max torsion key lift in the front and a 2" spacer in the rear. I did the Cognito Pitment & Idler arm supports and Fabtech tie rod ends and will most likely be doing the dual shock hoops (For a total of 3) this spring as well. This lift suits my purpose as I have a total of 3 inches over stock which makes offroading much nicer, but the wife and kids can still get in! LOL. I have motometal rims to widen my stance, I;m not a big fan of wheel spacers as it adds additional strain on the front end as well, but you don;t really have a choice if going with the 6" lift as you need to maintain that center of gravity.

If I ever win the loto, I'd love to do the 4" lift from Fabtech but I have many other wishes and just not enough money!
Live life like there is no tomorrow!! You never know what's around the next corner.....

Hey Spyder,

Gaza has an amazing SUT and it keeps getting wilder and I also have the same year SUT with the same lift kit that was already installed when I took it on a partial trade on my H1 and I like it but haven't given it the workout that Gaza has yet Hope to join them this summer for an outing

I have 20" rims and 37" on mine that also came installed.

My link

You can have a look at his and mine as well to give you some idea of what it looks like in my gallery link.

My 08 SUV is there as well stock and after it grew up with the CST lift that I had the dealer bring in and install when I ordered it. My 08 still has the stock rims and tires so far for now.

Hope that helps a bit to decide at least how it looks I like the look an the ride of both.
