Hi guys, anyone have an idea why the electric lift pump on my 6.5 N/A deisel would continue run after starting.Kept on running all the way to work,a 15 minute drive. Been doing it for 3 days now.Do you think there is any danger in keeping the engine running while the lift pump continues to run ?.And while I'm at it,I want to change the oil in my wheel gear hubs.Whats the best oil to use ? Thanks guys.

I had to replace mine last year. Mine runs all the time, it jus started to be very loud. Now I don't hear the new one.

Problem solved.It was the fuel pump.When I primed the filter with old pump,it took almost 10 minutes to start spewing fuel.Now ,with the new pump,spewed like an 18 year old doing it for the first time <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... prised.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ot-ssh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ssh:' />

apparently the fuel pumps used by gm on the 6.5 are know to be really trouble prone, almost as bad as the pmd.

a lot of guys with the 6.5 in trucks either replace it with an aftermarket pump (ithink the FPR5 is common) or run 2 pumps in parallel.

supposedly a weak pump can also lead to pmd failure as the design of the DS4 injection pump also uses the excess fuel flow to provide a bit of cooling to the pumphousing and PMD.

if you check out the diesel page, com there are some long running threads about it...
