Hi everyone, new member on the forum. Ive been a hummer fanatic ever since i was a kid, and always told myself that if i was going to live up here in Canada, im going to have to get myself a hummer, plus ive always wanted a diesel. Well things are going good, so i decided to go on the hunt for a H1. I decided to settle down for a 2001-2003 H1 wagon. Those seemed to fit into my price range, and had the options that i wanted, (abs, newer style dash, newer engine block, etc) and my buddies thought the wagon was cool; we could jam all our stuff into it for trips or such, or just parade around town in this gigantic box .
I really wanted a 2003 with the electronic locker, but the right deal hasnt shown up yet.
About 4 weeks ago, i stubled across a private seller for a 2001 in the US, with around 100,000 miles. A bit high to my liking, but the price was pretty good, had a good serivce history, and i did have plans for a cummins conversion down the road if anything decided to quit. Well after talking to the seller, i put a deposit down, and couldnt wait to book some time from work and get into my H1 well next day, the seller refuned my deposit; he decided to trade it into a local dealer for another vehcile. Great!
Last week, almost the same thing, on a white 2001, this one i just didnt have a good feeling about, and the seller just didnt want to deal with a Canadian... so it seemed. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' />
This week. I found the machine that been burning at the back of my mind for a few years. A 2002 H1 10th anniversary edition. And to my surprise, it was already in the country. Awesome! i thought. After chasing it down for a few days, i happen to end up at a dealer in ontario that has it for sale. Now i posted a reply on a topic here on the forum about the same vehicle. I was surprised that i happen to find a thread about the exact vehicle, and now im concerned ill be buying a lemon, or abused H1.
I just thought i would probably get a better/quicker response posting a thread in the H1 section, then the for sale section.

What do you guys think. The dealer that selling it here is a bit at the high end of what im willing to pay, and he says hes got 2 other people waiting for it if i dont go for it. Do you think i should pass on this one, or does anyone have any tips or pointers on what to check out or test when i take a look at it on monday.
As far as my typical usage, ill be driving about 2-3 times a week from home to work (around 8km trip), and do the occasioal weekend ride around town. So i wont be putting much milage on it myself. And plan on doing all maintence myself, im extremely mechanicaly inclined, and have a full shop at my disposal, and love working on vehicles. This wont be just a road queen, i do plan on doing some mild off roading with it, thats why i want a H1, plus living out in the country theres a lot of fun places to explore.
Thanks for any help, you guys have a great info packed forum here, and i cant wait to be a part of the whole hummer experience!
