Hi, there is a 2008 Hummer H2 that was originally from Ottawa, and then the car was transferred to Herron Pontiac Buick GMC dealership in Nova Scotia and it was sitting in that dealer for quite a while and then Addison Chevy bought the H2, and finally the car ended up in their lot in Mississauga.
The car has been sitting around in Addison Chevy since around February or March.
I visited Addison Chevy to take a look at the H2, and what I notice that it has lots of rust spot, not on the body but on the chassis.
I wa just wondering, if the car has lots of rust on the part that you can see by just looking at the frame, I wonder if there are rust spots inside the body ?
What do you guys think ?

all H2 frames show rust in certain weld spots. i would think that the truck sitting didnt help its over all apprearance. i would have a mechanic look it over top to bottom and inspect the truck before a purchase is made. just a thought. cheers

Re: 2008 Hummer H2
I have to agree with Steve on that one... if it has been sitting, a couple of questions, first is WHY?? even with gas prices high, the trucks will sell, I ahve seen more Hummers this past 6 months then ever before and when someone sells, there is ALWAYS a buyer at the right price. Second have someone look at it, my H2 has some rust on the chassis, not the body, I would have it rust proofed and you should be good to go, mine is an 05 and the body, doors, rear hatch, etc.. all have Zero rust... they are truly great trucks!!

Hey WIBS,
I think this is the same 08 black H2 on Eglinton I was thinking on taking a look at. What are your thoughts on the condition it is in....Rui

The condition is quite scary.......there are lots and lots of rust on the frame, side steps, rear tire carrier.....the body looks clean but then again we will never know what is the condition for example, behind the door panel.....there could be rust inside the body that cannot be viewed from the outside.

That's too bad, and they are asking $43000 for it.Just go's to show what happens when you leave your vehicle outside without proper protection.

I would suggest you go over any truck with a fine toothed comb..door panels are pretty easy to pull off on a H2..I think 3 screws total, the rest is all clips, if you are concerned, I would suggest you pop them off.
the under body does rust, mostly surface rust, also the steps and tire carrier does as well, crappy paint and lots of road crap, rocks, salt, etc...it happens to most H2s, now I clean mine regularly and spray it with the Rubberized rocker panel protector, it is a quick fix, looks good and pretty chap, crappy tire has them on sale regularly. As for bumper, tire carrier, brush guards and steps, you could line-x them and then you would never have to worry again..
the point I am trying to make is that it is hard to keep these all clean underneath, this needs to be done on a regular basis, and most drivers do not do this amount of work..rust proofing helps too, but we do mostly live here in Canada and Mother Nature is not always kind and the Road salt from winter doesn't help...but don;t be discouraged by some surface rust on chassis, it can be fixed...that is my opinion and experience with our truck.
that being said 43K seems a bit high if the truck has not been at least cleaned up.. it truly isn't that hard to make it look like a lot better....take some photos next time so we can all take a look.
my two cents worth and then a bit

I did get the chance to look at her for myself. What WIBS reported was true, she looks scary. Rust on a lot of locations. No way they will be getting the asking price.

The salesman said that the rust can be cleaned easily, I don't know if I want to believe the words of a salesman......
The rust in the chassis can be sprayed with an undercoating............
But I feel that rust is like cancer, if the car already has a lot of rust in places that is clearly visible, I wonder if there are rust deep inside the car, in places where we cannot see............

Remember the sales guy will tell you what you want to hear. I’m working in Nova Scotia at the moment and I can say that EVERY car/truck over 3 years old has bad rust. Check the shocks and all the lines, that seems to be an issue over here as well.
Unless you remove the rust it is like cancer, it will spread. If it is surface rust a wire brush on a grinder should take care of it. Don’t be afraid to stab it with a screw driver to see how bad it is. The guys are right, get a mechanic to look it over, it’s a big investment.

Just because I drive a HUMMER don't mean I don't care about the planet.... in fact it means I can get to most parts without any help!
