One of our members has an issue with his H3.

"EVERY time I get in and out, my seat heater is turned on. Is this happening to anyone else??

He doesn't believe it got wet or that it is the wiring or a short. The switch can be turned on/off manually.

thanks

I have never had this . Or have i ever heard of this one ? The button is pretty basic . One way for low heat and the other for high heat . The middle for off ! So the button shows it is off , yet the heat is on ? Is it low or high heat ? I would go see THE GUYS AT MASTER MECHANIC ! Sounds like a wiring issue to me . Also make sure the member has never had a poltergeist problem either . Good luck .

I Have,

the heater switch of the H3 is turn ON on HIGH by sitting on the edge of the seat. the edge then push the plastic trim down and since the OFF position put the top of the switch near the trim, the trim overlap the switch turning it ON on High. Plaza offered me to send both seat at a shop to get the seat reenforced on the outside edge in order to prevent the pressure on the plastic trim.

Im still debating the usefullness of the procedure since I have to loose my H for several days, they have to take both seats out and send them to the specialized shop.

the other solution I found is taking fuse #53 out, will replace it back in winter time, but it also kill the seatbelt witness light and shime.

Dead bang - this happened to me alot for this exact reason..... bit o' a design flaw on the H3's... On the H2's they are on the door. During summer you can just unplug them for now at the switch. I sold my H3 but was I was planning on doing was taking a dremmel and very very gently and neatly, trim the plastic over the switch until it doesn't happen any more..

Regarding the Heated Seats,, when I was at Plaza yesterday, I mentionned again abotu this problem ( seats heats up without touching the switch ) there has been a service memo from GM regarding this for the H3, the memo state that they have to put a screw at this exact place in order to prevent the molding to shift when sitting on the seat and turning ON the switch. It tighten the trim to the seat framing. So far problem solved. Hope it helps other H3 owners that had the problem

the positin of the screw is here
