Hummer Height

Post by Montana »

Okay here is the deal, my H2 is six foot nine with the roof racks from as best I can tell. Clearance for my underground maximum is six foot seven. So I am shy two inches. Short of taking off the roof racks which I dont want to do but will if forced, is there any other ideas of how I can gain that two inches. I told my mechanics maybe that mexican kind of air suspension you know like on those cars that lift and lower. OMG I thought he was going to die laughing when the words came out of my mouth.

Any way if nothing else I hope this post brings about a few smiles, but I still need to find two inches <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... oflmao.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rotflmao:' />

LOL, yeah that's a tough one for sure... Mexican air suspension while a good idea won't work on the H2 because it's got torsion bars in the front! Thus no where for the air bags to install... not that I am an expert in any way but as far as I am aware, the air bags just replace coil springs, and with no coils on the front no where for air bags to go..

In a pinch a guy can always deflate the tires to like 5 psi and that'll get you riding a bit lower but clearly not something to be doing on a regular basis...

I dunno I think roof rails gotta come off!!

Aaaaand since we're on the topic a bad joke!

There are three moms. .

A Brunette, a Redhead, and a Blonde.

They were all talking one day and the brunette says "Oh my gosh y'all I went through my daughter's purse the other day to get some gum, and I found an ounce of weed. I cannot believe she smokes weed"

They comfort her, and the redhead says "Yeah, well I found a fake I. D. In my daughter's purse. I cannot believe she has one". So they all comfort her.

Then the blonde says "That's nothing. I found a condom in my daughter's purse. I just cannot believe she has a penis"

Even taking the bars off may not be enough, I caught the sun roof deflector in one place <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ngHead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':banghead:' /> The last time I went in to a covered parking lot with my roof bars on the height said 7 ft 1 in…… on LEVEL ground, they had to replace the PVC drainpipe when I smashed it at the bottom of the ramp <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... oflmao.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rotflmao:' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... oflmao.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rotflmao:' /> and paid for a car wash <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ght_on.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':right_on:' />

My bars are back on and staying on <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Just because I drive a HUMMER don't mean I don't care about the planet.... in fact it means I can get to most parts without any help!

You are on a Hummer board. You want to lower your truck? You are going about this all the wrong way and most definitely in the wrong direction. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... oflmao.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rotflmao:' />

Omg JL that was a good one. I will have to tell them all that one at work tomorrow. The tires are staying, roof racks can come off if it will make it fit into the underground. I can put them back on when I am going somewhere. I live in a condo, no outside parking. The security likes me and the beast so they have given me a parking permit for outside till the end of September <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... /blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

And yes Hesh I know this is a Hummer board, doesnt mean I cant think differently than some! A woman's perogative <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... oflmao.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rotflmao:' />

I had the same problem with my work parking. I decided to take the roof rack off. If you want two more inches you can raise the front by two inches. There is a kit you can buy. That will make the front level with the back. if you have the Air Suspension you can also reprogram the suspension and set it up higher. As for the variable suspension, I looked into it. You can raise it up to 4 inches but it will cost about $6,000 just for the kit to do it, not to mention the installation.

Now my work is moving and the garage is even lower. I may have to lower the rear by 2 inches which will make the roof level. I have not decided to do that yet. I might sell my H2 and get something more practical to commute with since I also just got an H1.
