Princess auto flyer came in today. Been on the hunt for a winch. They have what looks to be a good deal on a 10000lb superwinch.

http://www.princessauto.com/trailer/win ... road-winch

Thought it would be a good deal for those lookin for a winch. My dad saw the champion ones costco had on sale, but they sold out before i could take a spin down and measure it up to see if it would fit between the frame rail.

I really want a Milemarker, but for the meantime what the heck. What do you all think of these superwinches? its not like i plan on using it as my full time workhorse winch, but just incase one day, (probably durin the winter) i get too ambitious, i could use one. If you shackle and pulley it, im sure it would be more then adiquite for the H1 as a temporary winch.

What ya think.

I havent been down to a store yet to see how wide it is, or downloaded the specs yet.

Before you go ahead, check out the link, I was looking at these a few weeks back, JBeatie has one and has had no problems, and I’m going to order one as well.

It’s about $450 delivered to your door.

I got this Winch last week. I will be using it with the hitch mount for backup winch capability! Would of saved me two weeks back, instead it costs me a bulldozer to get me out!

Not a bad deal.

There is however one problem "UPS Standard To Canada" ive been burnt 1 too many times by UPS.. Acutaly about 6 times when the seller refuses to ship USPS or DHL Those additional handling charges ontop of the normal GST/PST are brutal.

Another guy that ive delt with (he sells welders) also sells some nice winches http://www.titanwinches.com/index.php?a ... roductId=3

Even though these are chinese winches (what isnt nowadays) they seem to have a quality product, have ive had great customer service and warranty with my experence (welder related). I broke a air fitting on my plasma cutter, and sent out a replacement next day. They are a good source for anyone in the Burlington area for the few offroad odds and ends.

I really would not scrimp on a Winch, and for our trucks, I dont think the Princess Auto one would be the route I would go. For me, it would be Warn or nothing, but I have no qualms about Milemarker hydraulic units. Ive heard too many horror stories, and I know how bad Ive gotten my truck stuck, and many winches would not be up to task for self recovery. I dont care how well I can use it to help others, if I cant rely on it myself during a "good" stuck.

A winch will not be an item that you can afford to have quit on you when you need it.

Man i remember the day when i was at princess about 5 years ago and saw a "new" old surpuls mile marker winch sittin around on the shelf for 350$. It floated around there for a good 6 months. I remember saying to myself, who the heck would use a hydraulic winch?, having to fit a pump, resivior, controls didnt make sense.... If i knew what i knew now, that thing would of had a nice home. I didnt realize what it was untill i got my H1 and did my research on the milemarker

I agree with HESH, a 10000lbs winch won't do. The factory 12000lbs is barely enough to move the trucks and even it will require a pulley block to work well. I personally am not a fan of Warns, since I have seen way to many of them break or overheat.

If you Have a Hummer and you go offroad, you need a winch...Period!

The bigger the winch, the easier it will be for it to pull you out!

Many of the So-called China winches spank the $$$$$ Warns easily, Do your research before you buy!

Often times with winches you get what you pay for. I'd trust my 12K Warn over any 15K smittybilt, or similiar.

Not only that but parts are easier to find if/when it needs rebuilding. The Warn isnt a 'disposable' winch, somewhat.

I have this winch on my H2...only used it 2 times & it worked flawlessly! I actually pulled a tree down that semi fell in my yard when we had a snow storm in Oct!

One thing people have to remember with any of this stuff is what the person can afford, and or now often it gets used. People with limited budgets may have to start lower end and work up to the "good stuff" over the years. Also remember no matter what claims are made most stuff today is made in China, or the core parts are, then assembled in Canada or in the USA and have different casings or slight layout changes to set them apart. In my case, I can't currently afford the price of a Warn winch but could one ofnthe cheaper models, I'd rather have a winch of somekind then nothing at all.

Actually I think all winches are rediculously over priced anyway.

Anyway, just my nickle worth.
