US TIRE SHOPS / WHERE TO BUY / EXPIRIENCE NEEDED

Post by Sub »

its obvoius that tire costs in canada are insane for hummer owners - we pay almost double if we buy new tires here nevermind the tax portion applied to the bottom line....

wanted to run a good topic so all of us can get some positive links or feedback about your UStire suppliers or your buying expirience on tire market for 37"s or 38"s tires.

1. what is your favorite tire choice (noise / handling/traction)

2.where do you reccomend to buy (online/phone/etc)

i ve seen few good deals on such websites as:

www.tirebyweb.com

www.tirerack.com

i dont know much abt them as well should we buy of them or not and were we can buy decent priced product.

I would be interested in the "Rocker" model 37x12.5x16.5. Is this what you would recommend? How much can you get them for?

I use a guy in North Carolina who sells military surplus tires used and new. As an example i recently picked up some new never mounted Goodyear MT's for 250 each. Then there is shipping and with our brokerage all in it was around $285 so for $1300 i got new boots. The last time i looked here an MT was 800 for one if you could find one.

I considered the Pit Bulls but it would have been over 2k to get them here and i didn't hear the feedback i was looking for on them to justify the bucks. The Rockers and Maddogs look real nice.

Here in the states I've used tire rack numerous times without a problem.

This past time I bought tires from Firestone since I invited myself in on a "Friends and Family" special. After the Tires + install + tire warranty I spent less than I would just to purchase the tires from tire rack.

I've heard nothing but good things about www.treadwright.com They sell retred tires which cost a lot less than "new" ones. I have a pair on the truck that I use to snow plow, but I cant give a review yet since I only drive the truck in the snow. Thankfully we haven't had any snow here in Buffalo yet.

Hey Andrew

What tire shop do you suggest in Buffalo that has a wide range of tires or can get? (if needed)

Markus,

One shop that has locations all around Buffalo is Dunn Tire. They are popular and seem to have a good selection of tires.

Many of the shops around here get their tires from a wholesaler called Mid-Town Tire. This way they don't carry an inventory and can get any tire delivered to them fairly quickly. Places like goodyear and firestone have a large inventory of tires on hand but they are always more expensive than your typical car repair shop.

I normally go to my friend's shop with tires I bought from tire rack and he mounts them. I just prefer to see the tires online, read reviews and what not before I spend big bucks on tires.

Why not buy them online and have them installed in the USA? Then when you go across the border, you can tell customs you're not bringing anything back.

Andrew
