Important Road Alert... Please read....

I was forwarded this from a good friend of mine... this is his experience from last week... please read and be careful.
On the way to Cornwall, Ontario , driving on Vincent Massey Drive , on Thursday morning, I saw an infant car seat on the side of the road with a blanket draped over it. I did not stop, even though I had all kinds of thoughts running through my head.But when I got to my destination, I called the Cornwall PD and they were going to check it out. This is what I was told...
"Several things to be aware of .. gangs and thieves, are now plotting different ways to get a person to "stop" their vehicle.
"There is a gang initiation reported by police departments that gangs are placing a car seat by the road...with a fake baby in it...waiting for a woman,of course, to stop and check on the baby. Note that the location of this carseat will usually be beside a wooded or grassy (field) area ...and the person -woman - will be dragged into the woods- beaten and raped- usually left fordead. DO NOT STOP . DIAL 9-1-1 AND
REPORT WHAT YOU SAW.
"IF YOU ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND EGGS ARE THROWN AT YOUR WINDSHIELD. DONOT OPERATE THE WIPER AND DO NOT SPRAY ANY WATER BECAUSE EGGS MIXED WITH WATER BECOME MILKY AND BLOCK YOUR VISION UP TO 92.5% YOU ARE THEN FORCED TO STOP BESIDE THE ROAD AND BECOME A VICTIM OF THIEVES. THIS IS A NEW TECHNIQUE USED BYGANGS. PLEASE INFORM YOUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES. THESE ARE DESPERATE TIMES AND THESE UNSAVORY INDIVIDUALS WILL TAKE DESPERATE MEASURES TO GET WHAT THEY WANT."
Please talk to your loved ones about this. This is a new tactic used and Iwould hate for anyone to fall victim to this kind of crime.
Please be safe

Sadly these are common place and it is just the start;
One thing that carries through with my job is personal security at all times due to some of the locations we work in.
Car crime is rampant; here are some of the others I have seen around the world;
Tie cans to the back of the car and when you get out to check what the noise is you wont lock your car or even turn it off, will you?
A rat thrown in the window while at the lights?
A shopping trolly hits your car as you are about to leave the carpark?
the use of a "bumper" (UK term) you back out and someone walks into your car, you get out to make sure they are OK and ......
3 golden rules we follow;
Do not panic, Stay in your car; check your surroundings and if you are in any doubt and call the police.
if you have to ram your way out, do it in reverse; you can still steer the car and drag it sorry ass out of trouble.
ON YOUR GPS; DO NOT USE YOUR HOME ADDRESS AS HOME!!! when your car is taken they drive to your house, open your garage door with your opener and who ever locks the door between the house and garage??
use a local store, intersection or someone you dont like as your home location.

The best tip you can use is when stopped in traffic; this is driving 101;
when stopped you should be able to see the bottom of the tires on the car in front. this gives you enough space to drive around without reversing if they stall.
Avoid
Confront
Evade
PS, carry a flashlight in your ride; a "D" cell Maglight fits into the door and is a lot easier to explain than a baseball bat;] nuff said.

Been having a MagLite for ages, 3 and 4 D cells,, up to 16 inches long almost 3 lbs,,as good as a bat, no explaining to do if found. Mine is between the seats and console, not banging on my knee against the door.
Avoid, Confront, Evade is a wise motto,any move to avoid conflict is a good one, mine was improvise, adapt and overcome. It did pretty good too. today Confront only in last resort, anyway to avoid confrontation today is good. Too many bad turn out have happen when confronting bigger than one can handle.
Defensive driving course is also good thing to have,( I dont know if you can still have that in special driving school. I know that when you bought high end car BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari Porches they used to give them) rear end bumper always a good RAM to get out of tight situation, try to keep the front intact, damaged rad, engine or front wheels will make your escape difficult.
GPS never had my address,, got the nearest Home depot location when im traveling far away like Indiana. I surely can find my way back from there <img src='

When in doubt, or strange situation, like Martdedub says call police, stay in your car, lock the doors even, better yet, keep rolling and call from further away.
and yess we receive all kind of junk mail regarding these kind of warning, sadly most of them are true. Baby seat on the side of the Highway, seen it on hwy 40 east near Joliette. I stopped 200+- feet away called it in,, SQ told me that its the 40th call they receive for this,, a patrol car is on its way.. waited 5 min, no movement from the baby seat, saw the patrol car,officer look at the seat, it was empty, he put it in the trunk, i drove away..

Its a sad reality of a poor and dying economy with all its inequities. We have to remember that most of us sit pretty high up the food chain and are prime picking for these types of crimes. The rest of the world views us with distain as overly rich, polluting and wasteful. We get little sympathy from police gov etc. If your going to drive a Hummer around you must be prepared to defend it and take a few bold steps to protect yourself and your family.
The great thing about owning a Hummer is you are part of a elite group of individuals that in most cases have higher level skill sets and as a group collectively have certain powers of which when focused can stop whatever IF we so choose.
There will likely come a time when your right to own a Hummer will be challenged. Caven is example of this in one way. The government may at some point drive a nail in the coffin of ownership with emissions BS as another example. As owners of these distinct vehicles we are not safe and we must stick together and try and find ways to solve these issues as they arise and perhaps take premptive steps so certain issues don;t arise at all.
Some ideas could include:
AMBER ALERT program for stolen Hummers that would provide instant sharing of info between all Hummer groups and vendors globaly. Not unlike what homeland security does between different agencies. So as an example if Caven was to post in that part of the forum about his demise it would instantly post to the HML FOR CHC RHC IHC HCX AMG etc. and even to dealers, resellers and shipping agencies if we had them in the database.
Parts tracing and Identification program. ID tag your parts with hidden labels, stamps. markings etc. to make them easier to idenify and take lots of current pics.
International Lobby for the purpose of appying political pressure to other governments (six nations as an example).
Investigations Unit made up of members who are lawyers, police, military, and general membership to liason with law enforcement for the sharing of information, investigation and help in the procecution of would be thieves. Its important to remember the police are powerless without community involvement and support.
Tort Registryso owners can report abuses and share thier stories about getting ripped off by whoever. This way as an examole, all the Sana Khan and Blake Mastin stories would be in the same place and make sharing and procecution of similar individuals easier.
Also, make sure you carry a ball and glove with that bat.

wow great ideas...I truly like the Amber Alert one as this is what we did for Cavan but it was a few days late before we were made aware.. it did get out to all the clubs and forums as soon as we were made aware as well as AMG and GM and all local dealerships and Northern NY Dealerships as well as Facebook, twitter, and multiple other social media networks.. we had a ton of feedback.. it was great..I have an excellent Distribution list and have multiple contacts, all trust worthy folks, if anyone ever has an issue, we are always here to assist! I think we can start a new section called AMBER Alert here in the club.. would be great and then everyone can see right away!
as for the Tort Registry.. that is also an awesome Idea..I have heard all these tales in the and actually got screwed over once too by another guy.. not as bad a the Blake story but damn close...
and the Investigation Unit..I would be happy to assist in this as well...and we have been there in the past to assist the Police and fire departments when ever called upon.. and would be happy to do so going forward.
We do need to all partner together...let's see what we can do to keep it up...keep providing the great ideas.. we will try to integrate them all some how to the club..

Greenmeanie; I love the AMBER alert idea <img src='

As for driving out of trouble, I have run driving courses on projects for some of the big O&G companies the next time we all meet for coffee, I can do a quick course on the basics and what to do and look for. it only takes about 10 minutes.
I'm going to check the microdot tracker that I had in Ireland. it was fairly cheap to do but very effective.
