H1 steering knock

Well guys im back at it agian. Ive been chasing down a steering clunck thats been driving me nuts, and just wondering if others are having the same problem or if its just me.
About a month ago, i started to get this steering clunk when went over bumps or potholes in the road. And it progressively got worst in a matter of days. Wierd i thought, maby time to do the pitman and idler arm, i didnt know how long the old ones were on there for, and they didnt seem to be the new style moog problem solver, thought it would be a good weekend project. BTW Thanks to Derek for hooking me up for parts in such a short notice . I was advoiding driving my truck any far distance for fear of the idler arm letting go.
I spent the weekend replacing the pitman arm and idler arm. They seemed a bit warn, the idler arm had a bit of play in the lower ball joint, put the new ones in, looking good!. I also checked the play and preload on the steering box, it looked good to go. So i elimiated all variables of knock. (the tie rods looked to be ok (they look original), but i have new ones on the way, probably do them in the spring with an alignment) So take it for a spin, seems much better, but had a little hint of a clunk. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' /> Ok so drive it to work the next day, sure enough the clunk is back. The steering has no play in it, but if you quickly jar it (when parked) you could hear the knock.. when you went over bumps the knock felt like it was right at your go fast foot. Kinda wierd.
So after fiddling around checking all the steering joints from the steering wheel to the everything seemed ok. But as i was checking with a flash light, i was looking at the steering shaft right before it goes into the tunnel (theres a rubber boot that comes into the cab that the steering shaft goes through. I could see the shaft "slider" moving up and down slightly when i turned the wheel. AH HA! i found the clunk. So... theres gotta be a grease fitting on it to snug it up. Nope!
I looked through the service manual, and fig 1-30 shows the steering shaft, and GREESE FITTINGS!??
Where are mine!
Just wondering if anyone elses is like this?. I would love to drill the tube and put a grease fitting on it, but dont feel too keen on the ideal, i have the proper fittings, and would only take a second. The upper and lower ones are there though.
