I have a button for Heated Windshield washer fluid in my 2007 H2. It doesn't seem to toggle, or click in and out like a on/off push button normally does. Also, it looks like there should be a light on it. The manual sucks at saying much about it. Can anyone tell me what I should be seeing when trying this??

I seem to remember a warranty fiasco where GM was paying owners to actually remove the heaters from their vehicles all together... Not sure how long you've had the Big H but there is a chance it's been removed entirely!

oh really, well that might explain the lack of function. I should have checked on this in the summer, I could have traced things out to see if it came to an end!

Just did a quick Google search, and indeed you are correct. The H2 was involved in that recall. It was a recall of 1.5 million. This due to like 5 fires caused by this same system. If you acted on the recall a dealer would remove the module, and GM sent you $100 for the loss of the feature. Maybe I'll design my own. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... rgreen.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':mrgreen:' />

I think Canadian Tire sells these, or one that's similar. And they're less than $100 if memory serves correctly. It's tempting! I've also been eying up heated wiper blades. And since I just broke one this past weekend...



(Though it works better now that the plastic backing broke than when it was intact!)

Actually the most cost effective and efficient heated washer fluid you could have would be to take a piece of bendable copper or stainless steel tubing and wrap it around your driver's side exhaust manifold. Just make sure that the ends where the rubber connects to it is far from the exhaust. This will work very well and is a completely manual system. I have seen it on a couple of trucks...just haven't got around to trying it on my own yet!



I am not a big fan of heated wiper blades just because of the electrical that has to move with the wiper blade.

True. Though the brand I was looking at had a pretty impressive warranty. That was a couple years ago though. A lot can change...

Wouldn't this make the water really hot, especially if not in use, since there will always be water trapped in the lines. Also, spraying hot water on an ice cold windshield might not be the best idea...but then again I might be wrong. Just a thought. For me, antifreeze Windshield washer fluid is the best and safest way to go and a cover for the windshield while it is parked outside to prevent it from freezing.
