<P>My oil looks pretty dirty. Just wondering for those who do it themselves which filter and oil you use? From Memory the oil is 15W40, as for the filter can I use one made for other 6.5 diesel engines??</P><DIV>Thanks,</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>Joe</DIV>

Thanks guys, yes new to diesel. I've done all my own oil changes but just want to be sure with the H1. Any particular filters you use? I'm sure if I go to CTC /Auto parts / Nappa they may not have a listing for the H1's<DIV> </DIV><DIV>I did read about the oil turning black right away just today - good to know! I'm not sure when the last oil change was done so if I do one now I can start fresh again. Sounds easier than our H3!</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV> </DIV>

Hey Joe, If you want to get easier starting and better fuel economy you should run either Amsoil or Moibil Delvac-1 0W-40 year round. I have been running that in all my diesel for the past 10 years and never had any problems even with extended drain periods of 15000kms. This is on H1s, Suburbans and Farm equipment, all pulling heavy loads and working in very dirty conditions. And yes diesels will blacken oil within minutes of your oil change...just the nature of the best! I would also recommend a K&N Oil Filter to make sure you get the best filtering available. You should also consider a new fuel filter...you'll find out if your lift pump is working at the same time!!! And a new air filter would be a good idea as well...preferably a K&N Air filter...it will save your engine should you ever accidentally play submarine captain!!<DIV> </DIV><DIV>Kevin</DIV>

<P>I finished the oil change last night. Had to go to CTC to get a new washer for the plug. The old one had a few cracks in it. I used a QS5 Quacker State filter and the shell 15W40 for now. I'll recheck the oil level when it's warm again. </P><DIV></DIV>Also check the air filter and it looks very clean, I just cleaned inside the can a bit. <DIV></DIV><DIV></DIV>Any idea where can get a fuel filter? CTC has then for $37 but not sure if that's a good price for one.<DIV> </DIV><DIV>Thanks,</DIV><DIV>Joe</DIV>

I might be in the need of a bunch of fuel filters... Thinking about running through a couple tanks of B20 Biodiesel through my rig get it all cleaned up and ready for emissions. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /></DIV>
