Hi, does anyone know how to safely remove the chrome plastic cover without damaging the paint, I think the chrome plastic cover is held by an adhesive tape.
Thank you.

Very carefully!!! It is actually held on with tiny clips that are plastic...much like an interior panel clip.......pressure clips only, but be careful pulling them up and apart....they are brittle when they get older and you don't want that to happen

You can take them off with a variaty of tool's . Bottom line is , your going to have to paint your rig there. The adhesive 3M stuff was made origanlly for NASA i believe . So you get the picture. <img src='

I use fishing line to take off anything stuck on with 3M tape and Ive never damaged the paint ...wear gloves then just slip the line behind the emblem/badge and saw back and forth ...takes time and you'll break your line a bunch of times but like i said it wont damage your paint ..then just use a good cleaner to wipe off whats left on your rig ....looking at the pic you posted i cant see any way the fishing line trick would work for your covers though ...but I have seen those covers on ebay so maybe take a look and see if there is a pic that shows where the 3M tape is on them . Then maybe carefully cut around them and then use the fishing line to cut the 3M'd parts off ....thats just my 2 cents , good luck

looking at those caps, you may be better of scuffing them and spraying them to match.
you could try heating them (use a hair dryer) that will soften the glue so it may come off easier.
