How to disconnect the battery safely

Hi, I got a reply from someone in regards to how to disconnect the battery safely for a 2008 H2:
Turn the Ing. to the On position then turn the Radio and AC controls to off then turn the Ing. back to the off position before you disconnect the battery terminals because the AC and Radio could lose the memory and go into default mode. It would mean a trip to the dealer if it goes into default mode.
Is the above statement correct ?
Anything else that we have to do in order to disconnect the old battery and install the new battery safely without causing any electrical problems ?

Make sure remove the negative post first and install last:)

never had any real issue with disconnecting the battery...but i do take off the Negative first, other then that, I never have done anything special...

something that we all forget at some stage doing this is to clean off the clamps while you have the chance, any fine grit (120+) will do and just do it lightly.
if your worried about the settings getting screwed up you can get a battery pack to keep enough juice to stop it from happening, it has a couple of AA batteries in it.
you should be able to get it at napa or one of those complete with instructions.

Rhino Uses a porta power unit basically a deep cycle batery which comes with lighter plug cord to charge it or to allow battery back up of truck but just be carefull of the positive lead for battery as its still live. Its this unit that powers some of Rhino's Xmas Lights (Mostly the upper rack units)
