You should consider a Predator motorsports Computer and exhaust upgrade it will make a world of difference and save you fuel as well! For going down hill their brake upgrade will be a definite plus. Also, if you drive the mountain passes that often you should consider a US Gear Diesel exhaust brake...your brakes won't overheat and it will surely allow more confidence for those long grades!<DIV> </DIV><DIV>Kevin</DIV>

Then in certian parts it feels like the grade is to much for the vehicle. </DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>Any comments or suggestions</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>Regards,</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>Fitz</DIV>[/QUOTE'] <DIV> </DIV><DIV>The '04s use the Optimizer motor with the ECM programmed by Caterpillar I believe, so I'm not sure what your options for upgrading of the program are.  On my '97, I upgraded the exhaust system (removed cat and muffler), and run a "boost fooler" to make the ECM run higher boost than stock, and change the boost mapping.  It has helped quite a bit, but you need to monitor your EGTs (exhaust gas temperature), as well as your IATs (intake air temperature), plus obviously the boost pressure.  All turbo diesels can be tuned to give you more horsepower by freeing up the exhaust, opening up the air intake (allowing it to breathe more air), increasing the length of the injection pulse to provide more fuel when needed, and increasing boost pressure, or changing the boost mapping.</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>The 6.5 TD motor can be tuned to put out around 300 bhp, compared to 195 bhp stock (the Optimizer is 205 bhp stock, if I remember it right).  To go beyond that you need to look for a different engine, plus beefing up of the rest of the drivetrain.  </DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>I have driven the Coquihala in my truck, and I agree, it's painful!</DIV><DIV>  </DIV><DIV> </DIV>
