Front end/Steering Components Q

Post by Big_Dub »

I need to replace my inner tie rods, pitman arm, and idler arm. Does anyone have a good line on well priced parts? Don't know if this is available but was wondering is the whole assembly available to buy aftermarket? All input is appreciated. Than you in advance <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ght_on.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':right_on:' />

Just because I drive a HUMMER don't mean I don't care about the planet.... in fact it means I can get to most parts without any help!
(try that in your prius)

Lots of places to find that at a great price . http://www.ebay.ca/itm/BALL-JOINT-TIE-R ... 1c2708a142 Also there is heavy duty Off road style made . Can't remember the name . Maybe KEV , DWAXMAN , or The West Coast guys know the name of the company that makes them . The tie rods are like baseball bat's .

I haven't dealt with the 1st link guys to much but I did ask them a few questions and they were very helpful and knowledgeable about hummers.

I have kryptonite tie rods from Dmaxstore and I'm very happy with them ..also check into getting the cognito support kit for pitman/idler , since I've installed that kit I've never had any issue's

I can give my 2 cents as I've done it all...

The cogito support kits for the pitman/idler are an absolute must! Do not get the tie rods though as mine failed in less than a year and a year and a half later, I still have yet to see them honour the lifetime warranty.... Complete joke!

Tie rods are a very debatable subject. Gaza's rods are awesome, I love my fabtechs.... However the knuckles and inner joint are the same as stock.... Which are the parts that fail.... The knuckle and the inner thus it does not make sense to change this unless you get a substantial lift kit (6" or more) as it's very unlikely the rod itself will ever break... I have a 2.5" lift on my front and I noticed recently that the tie rods boot rubs on the sway bar.

So if you MUST change your tie rods.... Go with kryptonite which G has, as the bar is a bit thinner than the Fabtechs. I will go with these if my fabtechs ever fail as I do prefer to have the bars beefed up as we go through some nasty terrain at times...

Thanks so much for all of the input guys! Now its just a matter of saving some $ for the parts. I think I'm going to go with the kryptonite kit and cognito supports. Just going to have to spend the money and do this thing right.
