I am changing the rear brakes on my 94 H1 and installed new rotors and now I can't get the caliper back on with the new pads. Was reading FLASHOFFROAD article and he says the gap between new pads sitting in fully retracted caliper should be about 7/8 of an inch, and that is what I have.He also says that the disk should be about 3/4 of an inch. Mine is 7/8.So,probably wrong disks from NAPA.Does anyone know what the part number for the disks is from any carparts store in Canada ? Thanks guys.

Thanks kev, called but got same parts tha I already have.Think I got it figured out though.Hand brake seemed to be the problem.Banged the spring loaded lever and the piston went just enough so that I cld get the caliper on the disk with new pads. Now I'm tryin to do the passenger side caliper.Much worse shape than the other one.Might let it soak in wd 40 over night.Any idea wether putting wd 40 into the brake cylinder through the bleed holes would do any internal dammage ?

Hey Jim,

I think you need some new rear calipers!

You shouldn't be having that much trouble to push the pistons back in! And WD-40 and brake fluid seals are not the best of friends...you might end up with a leak!

Contact Roy @Crazy Canuck and he has a great deal on rear H1 calipers!

If your calipers are hard to put on now, you will have more problems later...they will keep eating your pads up!

Hope this helps!

Have both calipers in stock, pads, rotors... all stock. Getting a new line in soon for cheaper calipers ....expecting $150 exchange. Right now they are $200

Finally got them both in.Was a challenge.Hand brake was stuck on passenger side.Even with the cable off the spring couldnt unload the brake.Anyways, will install new brake fluid lines, they got torn off when my son tried to change the disks and unbolted a halfshaft and the hummer rolled out into the street. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... prised.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... prised.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... prised.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Speaking of rear brake issues. My left rear caliber seems to stick ever so often and stay on. I have re compressed the piston and it works for a few days, then siezes again. Took off the Ebrake calbe this last time and again it worked for a little while. Anyone have any ideas of a more permanent fix before I order a new caliper?

How are those cheaper calipers coming along? do you have them is stock yet?

Everything is done.New disks, pads and lines.Still have a problem with the passenger side bleeder. It leaks. I switched valves and still get a leak so I am assuming there is something keeping it from ''sitting' properly and blocking oil.I have blocked that line temporarely so I can still use the truck. Will try to clean it with air sometime soon.
