hello

I have a h3, the manual says not to install any components that will draw more than 20 amps. Been told about solenoids and relays and such, but it all came with horror stories. Any worthy components in the market to get around this?

Okay the 20 amp limit is because of truck's internal wiring. Rhino an H3 Alpha has many lights and a winch which all draw more than 20 amps. Yes relays can be used ( in fact our Lumin's HID headlamps come with one and a 30 amp fuse). Rhino's driving lamps and roof lights all are fob controlled through 4 more heavy relays with 20 amp breaker fuses on each controlling the 4 banks . All these circuits run on deicated wiring only the HID headlamps connect to the H3's wiring at all and that is for headlamp operation signals only.

The biggest problems with relays is making sure the controling circuit is to the coils and the controlled circuit ( lights) are on the switch with a fuse. In most cases you want a normally open ( listed as n.o )relay ( off without power to coil) .

Rhino's only problem is we have to run the engine if the lights or winch are in operation for any long period of time.
