My OEM plastic cracked... so I started looking for something more practical... Found this one:

I did consider them and in theory it does make sense. I was just a little hesitant to drill and cut the hood of my H2 to test them out.

I can see it helping in two ways;

1. releasing trapped air on the highway and therefore enhancing cooling and efficiency

2. eliminating underhood heat build up in traffic or on the trail, this will really help the A/C too!

So when are you installing a set?

I've got the piece and about to install....  I hesitant as well, but for different reason - water on the engine. So still thinking whether I should just replace my plastic without cutting the hood or go all the way. They say - there is no problem with water going in - but I am not 100 sure

There should be no issue with this since when you are driving in the rain there is tons of water splashing on your engine. Just make sure all your connectors are well sealed and that no louver is positioned in such a way that it would allow water to fall directly into your alternator. Other than that I see no issues.
