Alberta: Nov 13, SSRP Draft Public Consultation

Post by Sugarphreak »

SSRP stands for South Saskatchewan Regional Plan. The Saskatchewan river basin is an area that pretty much encompasses all of Alberta south of Red Deer to the US border and from the B.C. border to the Saskatchewan border. This includes places like McLean Creek, Waiparous, and Crowsnest, basically our club stomping grounds.

The plan is going to govern what happens in this area for the next 10 years or so, and unfortunately there are some groups out there would prefer that our access to this area gets further restricted to trucks rather than expanded.

For anyone interested the public consultation about the SSRP is on Wednesday, November 13th at the Glenmore Inn from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. I'd encourage everyone who can to make an attempt to attend, the more interest we show in advocating responsible land use the better.

At the very least we can get an idea of what the province has planned for this area for the long term. Instead of just arriving to something like this unexpectedly:

To be honest I don't know if I can make it myself, I don't get home until 5:00 and it is all the way across town for me.

No, couldn't make it down. On top of everything else I had to drop my car off for a dealer appointment today, they have it now until tomorrow.

Mine was an 8000km service appointment, I have some sort of package where it is all included... only downside is I have to make time to drop off and pick up.
