Welcome to Spring Alberta CHC Members!

It has been a long cold winter, and now that temperatures are finally creeping well above the zero mark, it is time to stretch those legs and hit the trails to kick this year off.  So without further delay, here are the details:

WHEN: May 3rd 2014
My apologies for any folks that can't make it out on this day, there was a lot of discussion around the optimal date and going strictly by the numbers this is the day most people are able to make it. Hopefully for our pre-summer run we can get a date that will work for everybody.

MEET UP POINT: We typically meet at the parking lot across from Tim’s in Cochrane.

TIME: 8:00am Meet up / 8:30am Depart

THE PLAN:
We will drive out to the free camp area near Camp Howard, and air down. From there, we head out directly to the falls. It will be a fairly quickly paced trip so we can get there in a timely manner, hopefully have some lunch and get back. That said, I haven’t been out there for a while so the trail may have some additional challenges on it.

AREA MAP:
<a href="http://esrd.alberta.ca/recreation-publi ... 013.pdf</a>

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
-Mechanically sound vehicle with 31" (or larger) tires with no leaks or issues
-Front and Rear tow points
-A Full Size Spare Tire
-Food and Water for you and all passengers
-Change of clothes, extra socks and jacket, overnight gear
-Extra fluids, rags or paper tower, flashlight

OTHER RECCOMENDED ITEMS:

-An FRS/GMRS Radio
-Tools (Wrenches, Breaker Bars, Sockets, Jacks, Screw Drivers, Etc)
-Extra vehicle Fluids
-Tow Traps and shackles
-Batter Booster / Cables
-Extra parts for your vehicle which are prone to breakage

GENERAL COMMENTS:
-While a beer with lunch is ok, please do not drink and drive
-Be aware that this area is patrolled and going into restricted areas could land you a ticket
-Take it easy on your rig, you have nothing to prove and we are all out for fun... if you get stuck, ask for help.  Trying to force your way out of something usually just results in breakage and a big tow fee.
-Keep the vehicle behind you in your mirror, if you don't see him stop and wait... radio ahead to let others know.
-Radio frequency for FRS/GMRS is channel 2
-If you have a HiLift, please be extremely careful using it. There have been a few instances where injuries or near misses have occurred in the past.

WHO IS COMING?
Please post up below if you are coming along so we can get a head count!

If you have any other questions or comments, post them up or feel free to PM me!
See you on the trails!

Awesome I will try my best to make it one this one!

I was out to the falls a few weeks back and there is a very tight section that snakes into the tree's to get around a washout caused by last years flooding (any H2 guys may struggle with that section) but I'll be out there this weekend with a group and can report back with any change/updates.

Looking forward to meeting you guys!

I've been through there a few times in my H1 - I think an H2 should be OK.....  But it is narrow!

I think the big cjallenge might be the creek with spring run off.  We have to go to see.

I'll be there!
