IT'S HERE!!!!  MOAB IS COMING!!

It’s been 20 years.  20 amazing, fun filled years.

Yep, the Hummer Club has been visiting Moab every September for 2 decades – and every event has been incredible.

Have you ever been to the Hummer Club event in Moab?  Have you ever wanted to participate in the Hummer Club Event in Moab?

THIS IS YOUR YEAR!

This event is called Moab Reunion.  If you’ve been before, this is the year to come back and visit old friends and old trails.  If you’ve never been, this is the event to do the legendary trails and meet the people you’ve undoubtedly heard about – you’ll become part of the scene and part of the legend that is Moab.

BE THERE!

Here are the details.

The 2015 Hummer Club - Moab Reunion

Once again the main event will take place in Moab, Utah with a pre-event in Durango, Colorado.    If you choose to do both events you’ll experience some of the world’s most incredible off-roading.  We’ll visit 3 states, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah.   From high altitude ghost towns and abandoned gold mines to the scrubby desert of New Mexico.  From stunning mesa’s to deep river valley’s – we’re doing it all.  This is THE event of the year!

The optional pre-event starts in Durango, Colorado.  We’ll meet up in the event hotel lobby at 7:00pm on September 16th for registration.  We’ll wheel near Aztec, New Mexico and near Ouray, Colorado on Sept. 17, 18 and 19th.  On Sept. 20 we’ll transfer to Moab, Utah to meet up with those that are choosing to do only the main event in Moab.  I strongly recommend that you visit Mesa Verde on the way to Moab.  Google ‘Mesa Verde Cliff Houses’ – it’s incredible.

We’ll arrive in Moab, freshen up, then head over to Rotary Park for the Welcome Dinner at 7:00pm.  This is where everything gets going.  You’ll get some event swag, have great dinner and sign up for trails.

We’ll hit the trails on Sept. 21, 22, 23 and 24.  BOOYA!
On the 24th we’ll finish up the event with an awards dinner at the event hotel breakfast room – starting at 7:00pm.

Here’s the 411.

Durango.  Sept. 16, 17, 18 and 19 (check out the morning of Sept. 20): Durango Downtown Hotel, 800 Camino Del Rio, Durango, Co. (866) 306-5438.  Mention Hummer Club and book your hotel for only $129/night!  $10 per additional person, children staying with a parent have no additional charge.  If you have a hauler please contact the desk at (970) 247-5393 and inquire about parking.  Pay at time of booking, no refunds or cancellations.  Please check with the hotel if you’re bringing a pet.

Rooms are very limited so book your room early!  Seriously, book early!  Be sure to mention The Hummer Club!  Also, make sure you understand their cancellation policy.

Pre-event Description:
Aztec and Durango: We’ll run the incredible Grim Reaper and Secret.  Secret is a Hummer only ‘top secret trail’ – hence the name, Secret.  We’ll also run high elevation trails near Ouray, Colorado.  Bring a camera, and clean underwear!  It’s not only wicked scary, it’s wonderfully scenic.

Transfer Day:
This is the day that we drive from Durango, Colorado to Moab, Utah for the main event.  I strongly suggest that anyone that hasn’t visited Mesa Verde do so – it’s on the way.  It’s not a wheeling place but it really is incredible.  Certainly worth a visit.  Google will tell you what you’ll miss if you don’t go.  It’s way cool.

Main Event Description:  In Moab we’ll run the trails that made Moab famous. Golden Spike, Moab Rim, Cliffhanger, Hells Revenge, Flat Iron Mesa (my favorite) and Metal Masher - some of the most iconic trails in the Moab area (trails may change).

Event Calendar:
Wednesday, Sept. 16: Participants arrive in Durango and check into their hotels for the pre-event.  Meet in the hotel lobby at 7:00pm for registration.
Thursday, Sept. 17: Pre-event trails in the Durango area begin at 8:00 a.m.
Friday, Sept. 18: Pre-event trail day.
Saturday, Sept. 19: Pre-event trail day.
Sunday, Sept. 20: Transfer Day from Durango to Moab.  Everyone is on their own.  Some may chose Black Bear Pass or maybe even Imogene Pass, I hope that many chose Mesa Verde and I know that most will just chose a highway drive.  Welcome dinner in Moab. Congregate at 7:00 pm at Rotary Park for a tailgate style buffet dinner and vendor displays.  Bring an appetite!
Monday, Sept. 21: Moab trail day.
Tuesday, Sept. 22: Moab trail day.  Annual General Meeting 7:00pm in the hotel conference room.  Board of directors meeting follows.
Wednesday, Sept. 23: Moab trail day. Night time trails.  It’s a full moon so it’ll be like daytime!  We’ll run with lights off.
Thursday, Sept. 24: Moab trail day.  Awards dinner. Congregate at 7:00 pm in the hotel breakfast room for a buffet style dinner.  Bring an appetite!  We’ll have vendor displays and an awards ceremony.
Friday, Sept. 25: Check out of your event hotel and head home, tired and sad that it’s over until next year.

Some notable Information:
  • Driver’s meeting each morning at the departure point. Be fueled up and have a lunch packed each trail day.  Also bring extra water and some extra snacks.
  • A CB for communication is required.
  • Be certain that your truck is well maintained and that it is in good operational condition.
  • Be prepared for long trail days, you never know what might happen ‘out there’.
  • Unfortunately there’s an obstacle (Mirror Gulch) on the Metal Masher trail that just hates H2 tie-rods.  You’ll only be allowed on this trail in an H2 if you carry at least one spare tie-rod.  It’s a difficult obstacle and there’s no bypass.  It’s just the configuration of the rocks and the particular dimensions of an H2’s front end that make it difficult on tie-rods. There are several trails run every day so no one gets left out.

Mechanical Support:
As with all Hummer Club events, we will be self-supporting.  Of course you will have the assistance of other members should anyone have any issues but plan on being as prepared as possible with a few common spare parts and tools.
