Hummer H2 Transfer Case Actuator

So was in getting some preventative maintenance done and I mentioned that when I start the Hummer sometimes the transfer case starts in neutral little red light on transfer case and I have to try several times before I can get to go to 4HI I'm told this is a common problem and that it's actually the transfer case actuator. Is this easy to replace and has anyone changed one before. Also when it says it in neutral the hummer still drives so which setting is it driving in if it says neutral. They suggested I cycle through the 4wd options several times and see if that helps at all..
