Are the h1 prone to rusty straps? Yesterday I Lost my one front tank strap , bottom strap , back strap.
I think I'm more shocked as I've never ever knew that could even happen. But wow those things rust quick

It is more common than you think on all vehicles since the straps are normally wrapped in rubber. Moisture will get in between the rubber and steel and then the process begins!
Off-roading our trucks just accelerates the process since the water normally has some grit in it and it is frequently dunked. So yes it happens!
Hope this helps!

make your own straps. A few of the items are not availible. use 10 ga bent ,a couple straps need a bit of contouring, but easy to do ,and 3/16 flat bar for the lower

Haha, yes I was thinking to make up a bottom strap. Only thing I was trying to do was find something
With a curved end to go around the "T" then I can curve and put other side on the threaded rod.
Currently I'm using galvanize all round strap wrapped around each side of "T" and bolted mid way to original flat part at bottom
Thanks

I have made a few straps at one point until i got replacements. I believe the stock straps are stainless and will last quite a bit longer than regular cold rolled steel. I never had a problem with the T hangers rusting away but i guess you could weld them onto new straps if that were the case.
A pic of one of my rusted out straps below.

Replaced my straps on an 04 H2. I think they are about $100 from GM. Better to replace them BEFORE they break, for peace of mind.
Also replace you engine oil dipstick BEFORE it breaks. A $30 dollar part and 5 minutes to change. If it breaks and falls into the oil pan ... I think it was 7 hours labor to get back out.
