Don't know about H2's but if you have an H1 with the factory runflats the best thing you can do is toss them. A pain to change a tire or to balance.

And I am not expecting anyone to be shooting at me again. Once was enough.

No I don,t think the bfg,s are run flats. The tires on my H2 are Goodyear AT Extreme,s. with durawall technology. I think the sidewall is filled with gel of somekind. this would only protect the sidewall from punctures I guess.

Run flats refer to an insert in the tire that allows them to run with no air in them. Run flats are basically a big piece of rubber  (looks like a doughnut) placed inside the tire on the rim and only lets the tires go down a certain amount (about 30% or the normal ride height) They are ONLY usable at low speed and limited distance. Using then for even short distances will wreck the tire but it can get you out of a jam if you are being shot at. If you insert the runflats you also have to put in a few tubes of a grease compound that prevent the tire from catching on fire when the run flat is in use.

In general run flats have a bad reputation for the hummer H1's. They make the tire very hard to service and they are a problem when trying to keep the tire balanced. Many people leave them out after they do the tire change IF THEY CAN. Some of the H1 wheels require bead locks and the the run flat is part of this system (on some wheels). I have bead locks on one truck, run flats on the other  (H1's) and regular tires on the H2.  The stock H2 tires/rim are the best ride of the bunch (even with H2 rims/bigger BFG on the H1.)

All this being said, there are civilian sport tires that are run flat but these are for sports cars from what I recall (Pirelli's from what I remember).
