For a total newbie...you will have a really fun time replacing it!
You need to remove the intake manifold completely and all fuel lines. Some will tell you that you don't have to remove the fuel lines completely but I am telling you to remove them completely so that you won't have any collateral damage aka a bent and broken fuel line.
You need to remove the oil filler tube to be able to access the three small bolts that hold the drive gear on the injection pump...be careful they can fall down inside the cover...and then you would start /"$%?&*|||"/$"/$/$% so take your time and use a magnet and a deep socket to make sure you have them safe!
You need a special wrench for the three injection pump bolts and for the fuel lines...make sure you have them first!
Ideally at a leisure pace you should be able to do in and out in about 8hours!
Or I could do it for you in 15 minutes with one hand tied behind my back! LOL!

Look on the bright side Monk.... at least you dont have all the turbo and intercooler crap to deal with as well. That might add 2.5 minutes to Kev's time....

I don't need to use my knuckles...I can remove them just by giving them an Angry Stare!!
Normally they just jump right into my hand!

I went to bring my truck home today , (I'm sure do to me not having proper tools)
My injection pump timing line somehow wiggled back to "normal " the lines matched..... And it was 1/8 ahead,,,
Now I had zero turning the wrench room, but will turn my pump again later today (before -20 pulls in)
Gonna buy a ratchet wrench, it will help me tighten more, I really want to hold off this job for at least couple more months,
Lol , so much I wanna do and seems like in the cold everything, wants changing....
I'm hopping if advance timeline things will be fine,..,, well at least for couple months,....
I the shop tested my lift pump and said 6lbs... So that was good news
