Steering box top bolt snapped

Ok, sooo since I have time, I'm under my truck today and ugggg, noticed the top steering box bolt was half way out, I had a wired hit the head or I'm sure would have fallen,.,,
Now I stuck a screw driver inside and thinking the box itself is threaded? I took the washer off the top of my broken bolt and only stuck out the width of the washer ,
Does this mean I have to remove the box?? Then drill and tap? Or any other ways yours can think of?
Basically so you can picture the bolt snapped in the middle of the threaded area
Update, I'm gonna pop off the box to replace the bolts ,but what size/thread would that be? I want to get some good grade ones
I figure it's best t have bolts in hand before I attempt to remove, hehe

Well an update, on the weekend was decent weather soooo I figured crawl under and remove the steering box as I needed bolts,
1 bolt was broke/missing and I broke another bolt .... Internally after that 2nd bolt broke I went insane, hehe
I dropped pitman arm and , took a deep breath in relief, THEN I had to disconnect the steering shaft (was a pain but went decent )
Now she's dangling by the hoses, WELL, my luck they were seized to box, I blasted with liquid wrench waited next day and still end up breaking it,, but I brought my box to a close a Canadian tire ( they are near me) to remove the bolts in the casting , they got the bolts out and replaced my hose end and actually had bolts in stock for the box .,... So I was able to just do up..., I realized I'm so not equipped yet, tool wise,..,
While under there I realized I'll need front pads soon,

Stop going under there!
Next will be rotors...that caliper seems stiff to open...maybe a seal or 2... hmmm those ujoints maybe need changing... maybe the center bearing carrier is getting old...damn twisted the bolt off removing the undercarriage protection...that needs to be cleaned up and maybe a little paint.... etc....etc....etc...etc
