Safety requirements for 2016

As of July 1 2016, new safety requirements have come into play.

One big item is the tire and rim size.
Has to be by the tag!--- on the door
So for H1's , you have to borrow a set of 37 *12.5* 16.5  rims for the 2000 and older and 37*12.5*17 for the newer.
I believe a stock muffler is also needed. Good thing most people do not know what an H1 has for exhaust.

Will get more info as I chat with more mechanics.

So if I have a Chevy Cruze with 14" rims (LT) and want to upgrade to the 17" rims from an LTZ then I couldn't pass because my door has the LT sticker instead of an LTZ... that seems very messed up.

Would hate to be in used car sales business if this is true.

Ya it is messy. Just had a car fail due to wrong rims and tires--lowered and low profile.  I will get more info up soon on this .

I knew this was coming and I think it is BS. To many pencil pushers in govt With nothing to do. In some cases modifications to vehicles make them safer than original. If I was speeding 50 km over the limit would you say it was safe in and old chevette or corvette. They just don't understand. I was speaking to a mechanic last week and repair work to body and floors using rivets is unacceptable! Does that mean our trucks are unsafe as they are riveted together. One thing is for certain mechanic are going to be making a lot more money.

Just a safety , not an emissions test.

So all the 16.5 tires that I've gone through from Interco that have fallen apart and unsafe needs to go back on the truck? LOL
