Bombardier Iltis. Somewhere between 1976 and 86.

The front pole seems to be set up for multiple purposes. Holding camo, GPS, wire spooling, hooking the long rear mounted radio antennas into.

Interesting story between Volkswagen, Bombardier and MB on this little truck. Canada

Front pole is also used as a mobile wire cutter

I can sure see how this little truck could be easily transportable and maybe efficient for deployment. But I have to feel a bit sorry for the soldiers riding around in this little tin can when their peers are all tucked into armoured up Humvees.

Used them in Afghanistan. Awful. Only thing they were good for was narrow ally ways. I can't count the times we broke down on patrol and had to wait for recovery. Sitting ducks. G wagens came in right after. Was always jealous of the US, Spain, etc for their Humvees. Now I own one.
