Getting to it

So, I have been waiting for a break to get after checking my front Ctis spindle seals, so yesterday was the day, heck wake up at 4:30 might as well wrench. So seals in the front steering covers were gone, and installed backwards, a lot of rust and grime built up. Spindle extensions were ok. While under there changed pads and rotors, fresh noes locks (local bolt supply had em which surprised me) fresh gear oil, might as well do the diff too, might as well fix that power steering leak, lug nuts a little stiff? Let's throw on some new ones. Ok go to the back, wow, oil on the lower ball joint passenger side, yup output seal leaking, and the hub inspection cover has some sort of flesh eating disease, looks like it's eating itself. Ok I can change the seal, but never done it before and don't have the special socket thingy. Wait, what about that brand new ctis hub you got a couple summers back, yup right part number, swap it out. Bought a mixed box of parts off a cool dude in Sundrie, it had the shims, seals, couple gear inspection covers, voila. So big day wrenching, wheels are not quite back on.
pS: wife checked on me a few times, she hasn't seen me sweat wrenching since swapping tires on the 20 bolt hutchinsons. (Now that's a bitch of a job)
I can see why these things can be $2000-3000 when they go into a shop. She's hands on work.
If anyone knows a good cheap place to buy that special socket for the hubs, shoot me s message.
Will be rebuilding this hub here shortly. Once one goes I am sure the others are not far behind. 72,000 miles on her
