chrome is coming off the rims...sandblasting?

so as the title suggests, the chrome is really starting to flake off the rimms. dude at a tire store said it was WAY too expensive to have them re-chromed. my mechanic buddy suggested getting them sandblasted??????? and then apply the black ribbery spray paint some guys have used to cover chrome bumbers and mirrors etc.....is this a possibility?

I would get them powder coated instead. You can pick through an amazing amount of colours now.
But ya flaking chrome looks awful. I got my H1 wheels and CTIS accessories done a few years ago and they are still perfect.

Agreed, powder coating is the way to go. It's not to extensive either. I know someone good in the GTA if you need, just let me know.
