Michigan--This is a great Hummer event

Post by njlondon »

This is a great event; the sand dunes alone are worth the trip.

You have to join The Hummer Club Inc.  http://www.thehummerclubinc.com/

Note Locations: South Bend, IN AND Mears, MI.

Pictures below; see the H3 video.

Norm

The HUMMER Club Inc. invites participating club members to test your skills and your HUMMER at AM General?s Off-Road Course near their HMMWV and H2 assembly plants. After you have conquered the trails and obstacles there, we will caravan into Michigan to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Mears MI. There, we will drive over the dunes, swim in Lake Michigan (if you care to brave the October Temps), and possibly race other Hummers over the large flat areas. After the dunes, we will head over to a local 30 acre off-road park about 3 miles from Silver Lake where we will have a BBQ a Michigan off-road organization and have a chance to go and play in the woods. At the BBQ we will have an awards ceremony celebrating the previous events.

This is the first ever stand-alone HUMMER Club event at the AM General Off-Road Course. We look forward to having a great event and hopefully, making this an annual event. At the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, you will be responsible for your own entry into the park. Requirements are a State of Michigan ORV permit ($16.25), a State park sticker (instate $6 / day or $24 / annual) and a flag which can reach 10 feet in the air mounted to the FRONT of your HUMMER ($25 + $10 bracket) all of which can be purchased at, or local to, the Dunes. Information on the locations will be identified in the registration package you will receive.

Mechanical Support is provided at all major Club events

At major HUMMER Club events, AM General and/or the local HUMMER dealer sends technicians and a supply trailer with a complete tool and parts inventory to ensure that each and every HUMMER is able to fully participate in the driving activities and drive home. In almost every situation where a mechanical failure occurs, the HUMMER is fixed before trail time the next day. Factory and dealer technicians normally work each evening to assure that every participant is able to get on the trail the next day. Factory support at Club events means that no matter what the mechanical failure is, it will be fixed on site and sometimes on the trail. This is factory support without equal in the industry and only available at HUMMER Club events!

I won't be going, because I have done this at two Hummer Homecomings, and have been to AMG's test track and facilities 3 times.

I can say with some authority that it is a great deal of fun, and suitable for families too.

It may fill up, as there is a cap on the number of trucks. If you are going, you should join The Hummer Club Inc. and register yourself as soon as is possible.
