Hey D, I am not overly fond of plug in programmers, here are my reasons:

As a GM/Hummer Tech when you do updates to the ECM/PCM using a Tech 2 you must follow very strict procedures otherwise YOU WILL KILL THE ECM/PCM!!! Things like opening the door while programing will kill the ecm, turning on the radio will kill an ecm and if your battery goes dead, well then it is really dead.

And when I mean dead I mean you now have a deprogrammed paperweight!!! There is no bringing it back!

Also there are more parameters that can be adjusted than most people know what or how to adjust, so you can really screw your vehicle up when you thought you where making it better. JET performance is the worst for this since you actually have to input parameters not answer yes or no questions like the hypertech.

To get the best bang for your buck go with either a Wester' Garage replacement computer that will be guaranteed for life and they will tune it however you want and if you aren't happy they will keep tuning it till it is perfect!

Check them out at http://westersgarage.eidnet.org/

You could also use a Predator Rap-torq for the H2 that is almost identical to the one from Wester's but is tuned by Hummer Specialists. Check it out at http://predatormotorsports.com/raptorqcomputer.aspx

Hope this helps!

I haven't done a computer upgrade yet on my H2. I am waiting till most of my mods are done and my new gears are in to make sure I only have to it programmed once. I would say that Wester's would be your best bet and will be the one that I will be using, since they can tune for EVERY mod and can make a dual tune that allows you to run 87 all the time but if you choose to put 91 it will recalibrate the engine for the higher octane and make a huge increase to power. Wester's can also tune for mileage which is what I will be having them do which nets even more mileage gains close to 6-8mpg+++ minimum! I have used their computer for several of my customers and have one guy with a 2003 4.2L Trailblazer EXT running 12-13km per liter on the highway and averaging on a very regular basis 8.5-10 km per liter. Not bad for a close to 6000lbs SUV!!! Oh and it is now a rocket ship!!! I have researched them a fair bit and they have an excellent reputation and truly know their Chevys!!! They are also able to adjust shift points and reduce GMs torque management to allow easier merging in traffic and less hunting for gears out on the highway. They can also make a special feature using your Tow/Haul button changing it to RACE! This makes the shifts super firm and commands the engine to max power....YEE-HAH! The only drawback don't pull a trailer since you can no longer use the normal Tow/Haul feature! Oh and don't use the RACE button if your wife and son are in the H2...they will be glued in their seats!!! And Probably screaming!

Oh the dual tune does it without you having to do anything other than fill up with 87 or 91 gas, after 5 liters of either is put in the tank the computer will recalibrate for the new gas, up or down.

Hopes this helps!

Kev

PS: See you next week!!!
