Can anyone tell me if you can fit a 20" rim with 37" tires on a Hummer H2 without requiring it to be lifted?<img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='???' />

Yes and no,it will fit the only thing you may require is a couple of turns of the torsion bars to help the front clear. It also depends on the tire A BFG 37 for a 20 is actually a 36 so it clears no problem, a TOYO 37 for a 20 is a true 37 and will be tight just watch the backspacing on the mags. I run 37x13.50R17 Toyo Open Country M/Ts on my H2 and I only have minor rubbing issues at full lock, I have not installed new torsion keys yet to level/lift the front, but they are going on soon so that it will no longer be an issue.

Yep, helps a lot Kevin.  The tires are 37x13.50/20 Nitto Mud Grappler Extreme Tires mounted on 20" 20x9" American Racing Chrome Wolverine Wheels.  So, from what you know, would these mount on with little or no rubbing???

I went thru the specs. of both the tire and the rim and I would say you are going to need at the very least a set of torsion keys to level the nose of your H2. The rims(super nice btw!) have a 5" backspacing that will cause serious rubbing if you leave the front at stock height. The Nitto while not as wide overall as my Toyos will still induce rubbing at full lock without the lift. BTW, are you sure about the Nitto??? While they are amazing off-road, on-road the suck big time, very noisy and will shake you to death at higher speeds, but off-road close to unstoppable!



If you need to lift the nose you have a couple of options:



Readylift Lft or Truxxxs leveling kit and shock bracket extension....great if you spend more time on the street than offroad.

Cognito Motorsports Leveling Kit with new upper tables, this is what I will be installing this winter since it provides 3" more wheel travel no just 3" more clearance. Along with it I will be installing a set of Sway-away Torsion bars and keys to allow me infinte adjustment of the front end and a 20% higher load carrying capacity to compensate for my winch!

Thanks a million for the investigation and advice.  The tires would only be put on if I was off-roading and the OEM chrome rims and tires would be my road tires.  Not too sure yet though if I want to go through all of that just to accomodate off-roading....I'll wait to see if I actually do much off roading first.  I love this site...so much knowledge and great people!!!
