02 sensor change

Post by dwaxman1 »

looking for advice on when and how to change my o2 sensors... anyone have a favorite new brand like Bosch or Walkers or something or do you guys just use OEM? also how easy is this to install/swap out? Also do I need two? one before Cat and one after? I have seen two different types and they both say they are for my rig.....

I would like to do this myself if possible....

let me know.. any advice would be great..

I'd go with the Bosch or Blue Streak or NGK over the OEM, since they correct some of the fouling problems. You have 4 O2 sensors 2 pre-cat and 2 post-cat. 1 is for the left bank and 1 is for the right bank. All are heated O2 sensors. It is a very doable job you just need an O2 sensor socket and afairly long force bar to break them free. Make sure to use alot of penetrating oil to prevent stripping of the threads. Once you have them out coat the new ones with anti-seize and torque them to spec. 60-70lbs.ft and voila new O2 sensors!
