hi new member of chc
checked the sight but could not find what i was looking for( 2006 h3) tires i have are a 265 ,how big can i go ?305?
I have been reading that you can get lockers for the front and rear. if you install them is the vehicle always in 4wd lock or can they be disengaged? also looking for a winch.
getting ready to do some trails with chc in the future

Re: tires
The biggest you can go is 315/75 R 16, that is a 35" tire on your stock rims, however this would only require a torsion bar leveling kit. A 285/75 R 16 or 305/75 R 16 both fit without the leveling kit on stock rims but the extra front clearance provided by the leveling kit is very desirable. As for lockers The best thing for the rear if you don't already have the factory one is to purchase either an ARB air locker, Auburn ECTED or Eaton E-locker, all of these can be stand alone with no link to the Traction control computer. All of the above are selectable locker so that on road they are transparent but off-road they are fully locked.
For the front you need to purchase the front diff assembly from either a 2009 H3 Alpha Adventure package or from a 2009 H3T( they are the exact same parts!) Please note that at some point you will break the front diff whether or not you take it off-road, it is just that big tires make the weak link show up faster. The locker does strengthen the front diff tremendously but is not a perfect cure!
For a Winch you'll also need a bumper, An ARB winch bumper is the best there is, look for Black Rhino on this site!) For winches, Milemarker, Warn T-MAXX are all excellent winches, just remember bigger is always better, get the biggest winch that will fit in the bumper!
See you on the trails!

Re: tires
By the way if you plan on more SERIOUS off-roading an Upgrade to an H2 would be wise! If you plan on doing EXTREME Off-roading then you will have to upgrade to the Mighty H1! I know well since I have come close to the limits of my H2 and I am now starting to look for an H1....but I will still be keeping my heavily modified H2!

Gallore on winch on an H3 see pics of Black Rhino she has a T-max 9000 lb winch at 649.00 in an ARB bumper /winch mount $2000 new ARB fog lights 155 and a superlift levelit kit at 290. all from national 4x4. The levelit kit is required to compensate for the weight of the bumper and winch.
