Just came back from the dealer and was told I need to change my rear brakes and rotors, has anybody else changed there brakes yet and if so did you end up puting original brakes and rotors back on or did you go with something different

Many of us have done our brakes.  I had mine done to certify my 2003 Hummer H2 and used OEM parts.  The dealership performed the brake job and the cost was somewhere around $500.00.  Hope that helps.

Steve, I will be installing a set of Power Slot Rotors front and rear along with Hawk Brake Pads. I have used these rotors for years on H1s with excellent results. They never rust since they are Cadmium coated and the eliminate brake fade. I know some of you are saying slotted rotors on a Hummer that goes off-road, Yes, and I have yet to see any rotor or pad damage due to mudding with these rotors and pads. On the street kiss brake fade good-bye and expect to cut at least 40-50feet of your stopping distance, that also translates to a better functioning TCS! And best part is they will far outlast the OEM and are actually a little cheaper than them too!

Hope this Helps!

I would also encourage a brake upgrade with Braided Stainless Steel lines and AMSOIL DOT 4 Synthetic Brake fluid with a 600 degree boiling point, a truly awesome upgrade.

Hi Steve,

I changed my emergency brake shoes, and replaced my front and back pads with ceramic pads a couple of weeks ago on my driveway.  It cost me less than $200.00 for parts and the time and labour was my own.  I also had to change a seal on the rear drivers side.

I have 125,000km on my H3.  The rear pads were worn considerably, to the point that they would have needed to be changed within the next few months.  On the other had the front pads were still in very good shape.  I was always understood that the rear brakes would outlast the front ones by three to one.  [/pre]

I changed my rears myself... put OEM ones back on and oem pads... bought them off a guy on another forum, they only had about 2000kms on them, he changed his for drilled and slotted, not hard and took me only about an hour or two.. dealer wanted $1800.....
