Front windshield

Is it just me, or are these windshields prone to stone chips? I have had two stone chips in my windshield the last two months. The last one being a chip with a 3" crack extending from it. I am thinking the design of the glass is at fault here. Almost every other vehicle on the street has a very slopped windshield. The H2 windshield is almost straight up.The stone doesn't deflect up without the curved glass.Anyone else with similar problems?  Any thoughts?

I too have stone chips as, I would think, do most of the H2 owners.  It is a function of owning this vehicle (or so I am told).  I have a huge crack in my windshield and I was about to get it replaced this spring when I received another huge stone chip off the tire of a transport just last week.  I think I will wait until the "sanding for snow" is over and done with because the screen they are using for the sand must have some pretty HUGE holes in it!!!

Derek has put me on to a inexpensive windshield repair in the GTA .... if you want the address, just let me know and I'll look it up.

Hey Patrick      If you know the name of the glass place that would be great. If chips are going to happen often I really don't want to replace the glass just to have to do it again. The last chip I had I just had repaired where they inject some kind of silicone. It cost about $60. You can also buy a kit at Canadian Tire for $10-$15.

Well I had the second chip repaired today. The crack extending from it had increased to about 8". They injected some kind of resin to fill it. This was another $60.

Doug,

Did you try speedy auto glass on Kipling? I went there when I had a chip and it cost me nothing to have it repaired, the insurance covered it as preventative work to save the window, i had to do nothing but bring the truck in, the guys there did all the calling of the insurance company and everything.
