Ok, so there is one part that I'm not sure about at this point, the EFI Live programmer.

I have to buy this for over $750 so that I can turn off the passlock system that these Duramax pcm's are equiped with. I realize that I can do tuning with this system also but that is not my goal.

So, are there any shops that carry this program that I can send my PCM too, so that they can unlock it and I can save a lot of money? Is Gm able to remove the passlock?

Cheers

Hey guys in the middle of a cummins conversion ive had a few visitors drop by still waiting for derecks appearance LOL !!!

So i was fed up with my crappy 5.7 litre gas

i currently have body off and ready to play

the cummins was from a 1993 dodge ram 12 valve

had the head o-ringed 60lb springs 80hp injectors

fuel pin done , cranked the starwheel and smoke screw just for the environment LOL

used a custom adapter plate and flexplate from destroked.com 1300 $ , compushift standalone tranny controller 1200 $

2 inch body lift from rubberduck 450$

still using the stock 4l80e transmission , its being built properly to handle the torque , and a custom billet torque converter which needs to stall at 1300-1600

had a custom intercooler built

used all factory sending units for the dash

the exhaust will be all 4 inch

in all honesty i think this setup will be extremely reliable and easy to work on when done as well as very torky

some extra expenses are going to be

-steering box beefing up hummers have a weak spot at the steering box tends to crack or break

- considering that rock ram steering setup hydraulic cylinder very cool

-custom made engine mounts

-al new fuel system no need for elec pumps lift pump on engine does all the work

-dual electric fans

will be posting pics or getting dereck too

im in ontario if anyone has input or done the conversion im all ears on opinions and options

thanx guys very cool site we have here

Ok guys, everything arrived today at 4:30 and I finshed up at 10:00 with the engine mounted and most of the electrical sorted out. I'll clean it up after it starts up. Let me just say that with the complete donor vehicle harness, this conversion should go very smooth. I'm also going to replace the steering column with the donor one so all options are plug and play such as cruise, also I won't have to worry about the passlock. Factor engine mounts work well with a little fabrication as the passenger side mount needs extending forward two inches and the tranny mount bar gets moved back about 6 inches.
