H2 OEM tire carrier fits the H1!

Post by Tom »

Turns out the well made pre-2005 tire carrier for the H2 fits our H1's.

The D-Ring Shackles are spaced the same distance apart on both the H1 and the H2, except the H2 Mounts using fasteners 2.5" apart, while the H1 mounts 4" apart. Some drilling and a 1/2" adapter plate, and she works smoothly.

My 40" Tire fits just fine on a nice angle (to not mess with my departure angle)

Just wanted to share with you guys! It's a cheap way of getting a nice tire carrier. MUCH better than the factory H1 unit.

Note: Post 2005 H2 carriers are made by SMA and are junk in comparison.

Nice! <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ght_on.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':right_on:' /> Looks great and strong enought to carry the 40's! It looks good and I see a new trend for any H2 tire carriers that get removed and offered for sale.

I like it blacked out...do you think the 2" lift is a requirement for the barn doors to clear the latch?
