Another Cummins Transplant

Post by Roy »

After my crankshaft broke in half and took out a main cap,on the way to Mont Tremblant for the rally. Decided to change the power plant. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ngHead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':banghead:' />

Found a complete unit... <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ght_on.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':right_on:' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ght_on.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':right_on:' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ght_on.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':right_on:' />

92 5.9l cummins, with rebuilt 4L80E,adapter plate, new rad,air inter cooler and dual electric fans all for less than a trany rebuild.

Should have it in the drive way early next week. Then the work starts.

So, lots of 6.5 performance upgrades plus are for sale,

from my 99

high output injectors --10hrs usage,

glow plugs,

manual turbo actuator,

rear cylinder cooling kit,

computer with performance settings

radiator,

rad shroud,

very new starter --less than a month of daily drives,

maybe oil cooler and lines -- 1 yr old,

possible alternator,

fan,

fan clutch,

any motor part other than the crank and block.Motor only had 27000 miles.

Other parts may also become available soon. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... lleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... lleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Slow and steady.Finding a few parts have to be found somewhere.Motor is in and runs, coolant system still empty till I have the throttle finished.Trying to use stock computer instead of an aftermarket controller for the trany.Making a list of all mods for the next possible transplant Cummins.

Well , years later and still beating my 5.9, Has not let me down once. Electrical drains and steering box seals yes.Lost top end speed due to lower rpm of cummins,75 mph wide open but pull, man its strong.Durability is unbeatable. Eight hrs of 95% throttle and it still wants to give more.Have hooked up methanol injection onto this 5.9, even more power. Will not slow going up hills on 401 flat towing another H1. Now to make it look pretty.
