hers the carnage from daily driving this happened while on highway and almost put me in ditch sounds fun eh!!!

Hey Guys,



One saturday when Tony was wheeling with me at my place, we blew up the front Auburn on the way home, the pin fell out and destroyed a lot of stuff.



The Factory Eaton E-lockers are Excellent in all H Models, however they are expensive to add if you don't already have them.



The ARB are definitely your best choice, for quality and price. The fact that they are completely open when not engaged is a really good thing! It reduces tire wear and weird handling characteristics when on the street. And the ARBs don't have any electronic nannies that turn the unit off above 20mph, and we all know that in some mud holes our wheel speed can be well in excess of that!



I really don't recommend a Detroit Locker on a Street driven truck, the tire wear issues and handling in wet or snowy condition can make you poop in your pants, especially if you are going around a turn with oncoming traffic....really not fun!



I have recently had to change my Factory rear Eaton E-Locker in my H2, the lock ring had worn weird and would allow the locker to rachet when under heavy load.



I run Front and Rear Eaton E-Lockers and they are awesome! If I had to do it again though, I would do Front and Rear ARB Air Lockers!!! Much Stronger parts!

I agree with Kevin if you have the money go with eaton.....but ARB MAKE'S A GREAT LOCKER FOR MANY 4X4 OUT THERE...I USED THEM AGAIN TODAY IN MUD AND RAIN AND ROCK AT WEIR WITH A UNIMOG....DAMMMM GOOD

im definately going with a rear detroit !! for one there proven and legendary yes i agree with weird on road characteristics just gotta watch your cornering not to have your foot in it budy of mine has it in his now ( whick i should have listened too in the first place ) for a few years and loves it but he also offroads allot and so do I i guess it depends what you do with your truck

when i blow this auburn i with go with eaton on front LOL !!!

I also have a 2001 ragtop with TT4 dont really like how this system works and costs when theres problems

Im debating putting rear locker in it as well and putting a front T1 bias diff in front from the older hummers

anyone do this ive read good things about it on net just not experienced it

The TT4 system doesn't like the older, better T1 torsen differential, especially in the front, it caused problems when they were adding ABS to the H1s. A detroit in the back would work fine, but leave the standard Torsen in the front, otherwise you might have steering issues.

You are right, There is Nothing Stronger than a Detroit Locker. Absolutley Nothing! As long as you know what to expect it will be fine, however if you ever pull trailers...it could be very eye opening in turns, since the trailer will keep the detroit locked!

Other than that, you have no wires or airlines and it is always locked so you do have the ulitimate in traction!



I have installed a Rear Detroit on a 1996 HMCS and his truck was heavy enough that you never noticed the "sounds" from the locker and the truck rode fine.

thanx man was intending on disabling the tt4 and putting detroit with the t1 in front

but ya i have no intentions on towing with it thanx for the reply

Thanks guys for all your help! I guess my choice is made, I will go with ARB front/back. my first choice was eaton, but the price tipped it over to ARB.
