Hey all,
I've decided to put some sort of radio in my H2 and was wondering what everyone else is using, if anything. I have a line on a great Uniden PC 78 , Seen here. heavily modified and guaranteed, so I'm kinda leaning in that direction. I'd like to hear from other members as to what they run in their trucks and what antenna they are using for them.
Any help is appreciate while I check with the bank (the Misses) if I can do this or not.
Thanks,
Cb Or Frc

Do a Forum search on CB and you will get plenty of posts on the subject.
Put in a CB, and by an FRS/GMRS radio or two; they are cheap enough.

Actually I did a forum search (as I always do) before posting and it came up with 4 pages of references to threads with the word CB in them and 2 actual topics dedicated to the topic of CB radios.

I am anything but knowledgable on these but you'll want to make sure it's compatible with the ones that we use.
I use a motorola handheld which I plan to upgrade as well but I know not all brands work with each other as last run out Karl had a different make and it did not pick us up on teh same channel.
So I'd logically say see if motorola sells a direct connect as you can;t go wrong with that name in my opinion.

The problem is where to put a cb inside the H2 and H3. Some take out the On-star and fit a cb in there for the H2. The cb is nice because it is always there, better range. The hand helds are good for close range communication and cheaper. My opinion is for the cb.Price ranges go from $50 to over $300 depending on features . All you need is a $50 radio but go expensive on the antenna.I run a Wilson 5000 antenna which does help with an extended range.
Now go find a cb/trucker shop and get some professional advice. It will pay off huge.
Hope this helps a bit

I beg to differ. All CB radios communicate with each other regardless of manufacturer.
All FRS radios ditto.
All GMRS radios ditto.
Karl probably had unknowingly set a 'tone code' (privacy code) on the channel you were using. If he had changed that to zero he would have been fine, assuming his radio was not defective.

We run both a Cobra cb with weather channels (nice to know when weather decides to turn nasty) and an external Wilson 4.5 big stick no ground antenna (mounted to foreward roof rack) and would advise a knock back knuckle allowing the antenna to be lowered to roof to enter service bays etc . We also have a pair of frs walkies nice to use in big crowds as well as on trail. Also find out what your trailmates use CHC is generally frs Hummer Club Inc. cb with an external antenna.

Re: Cb Or Frc
I bought a handheld Cobra CB... the range is terriable compared to my FRS radios. Not only that the FRS radios were half the price, came as a set with Lithium batteries that easily last all day... my vote would be for FRS.
