Exactly. It`s hit and miss with these rattles. But some, if not most, are annoying... I`m probably being a bit anal about it, but hell... I paid a lot of money, I should at least have a semi quiet ride.
I think I`ll see MasterMechanic as soon as I get a chance... how can I schedule to come see you...

Yeah, none are ever anything major - but it is inherint. LOL - search the net and you'll see what I mean, all over some forums and other clubs...
I think alot depends on if you've done alot of work to it, it seems to help curve them. I get an annoying one in my ceiling which I read someone else had to, so he had the celing panel removed - everything in behind there supported & tightened, and then had a custom stitchwork panel put back in... it was freakin awesome!!!!
Sunroof I've heard of is common so you lubricate the seal and it takes care of that - mine's just starting so I'll be doing that soon - I think that one's common if you wash alot which I do of course...
Most are easily remedied but just can be a pain to do so....

Re: New H2 Owner Needs Your Help!
Thanks everyone! You've been so helpful and I'm pretty happy it sounds like it's all fixable Can't wait to go see Steve and get it worked out. I'll let you know what happens...
I have another question about the rear tire swing, if I may.
I would like to remove it (personal thing), but I'm stuck on a few things. I know I can buy new tow hooks that are without the latch etc so that's not a problem. But I'm not sure what has to happen with the cable running from the bumper to the tire? And also, what to do with the hole that's left in the bumper that the cables running out of?
Lastly, I can buy a new trunk piece that will accommodate a license plate, but what do i do about having a light on my license plate?
Sorry for all the questions. I've been looking around for so long and coming up short.

Re: New H2 Owner Needs Your Help!
Steve again would probably have a few good ideas for that to...
My only comment is that "Are you sure"? Most people add one unless you have a roof rack to hold the spare as it cuts your cargo space down dramatically. If you have a roof rack though like Derek - that's awesome!

Re: New H2 Owner Needs Your Help!
Perfect. I will run all this by Steve This is great.
And yes, I'm sure... I bought the Hummer and that swing arm is heavily rusted and I want to remove it and get is sandblasted etc... In the meantime, I'd like to take it off and relocate the plate etc. and in the future get a roof rack. I don't plan on doing any off roading for awhile. I'm very new with the Hummer and work is crazy right now, so I think I'll be fine driving without a spare for a bit... at least I have On Star
Thanks

I took my tire carrier off and all i did was cut the wiring and pull it threw that rubber grommet in the bumper and pushed that grommet in and it stays there nicely . Then i bought a license plate holder with a light and bolted it to my bumper and just rewired it. It was pretty simple.

Re: New H2 Owner Needs Your Help!
The wiring from the swing out carrier for the license plate light does have a modular plug underneath on the passenger side and I used that to tie in my new light for the license plate light on my road armor back bumper after cutting off the plug end.
Some have rerouted the wire up and into the door but may be easier to get power from the top rear marker lights but I have not played with the headliner yet to know how to access the wiring above.
Maybe someone else has and can input what they have done to get power from rear tail lights.
No license plate light is an easy way to get stopped by the police for a coupon(ticket) as I hear them call it on the scanner.
I have seen some removed completely like Gaza did on his SUT and forum pics of some that figured out how to lift the swing arm out of the pivot and put a cap or plug on top allowing easy reinstall but not sure how easy that process is for removal and the latch and pivot are still there so it is not as clean looking but everyone has different needs and requirements.
It seems if you always care your spare you never need it but leave it at home once and you find a nail when it is the most inconvenient time then. I left mine on the SUV and found one to fit my R/A bumper on the SUT.
Enjoy your new Hummer and all the fun it brings as well as the looks we all get used to..
