So Over time I have noticed that due to my 5.38:1 gears and my front locker my front diff and more than given a beating to the differential mounting bushings.
So I will be replacing them but at the same time I will be adding 2 more mounts to the current 3 that hold my diff in place.
I got the idea looking at the Rancho Suspension kit for when they lower the diff down with their lift kit.
I plan to make a combination diff cradle/skid plate that has polyurethane bushings front and rear to provide the needed support and prevent the housing from trying to break itself free when spinning my Massive Michelin Military 38.7inch tires!
I will be starting on this and hope to build it and install it before the end of the month so I can test it at my place on the 28th!
Stay Tuned,
Kev

Re: Front Diff Brace
So Here is what I have come up with so far.
So Ideally I want to try and brace the nose of the front diff to eliminate it's desire to try and rotate Under load.
Here is what I came up with so far...and yes it looks like a kid Drew them...oh well!
So as you can see I should be able to help brace the rotational forces of the diff.
I will need to install slightly longer diff Casing bolts but since I work for CAT that won't be a problem!
I will lose about 1/2" to 5/8" ground clearance directly Under the front diff but I still feel that the net overall gain will be more than Worth it!
Stay Tuned,
Kev

Re: Front Diff Brace
So I will be working on this project this weekend!
I decided to redo my entire front differential mounting!
I currently have 3 weak mounts and I will soon have 4 bomb proof mounts!
Pics to come soon!

Re: Front Diff Brace
Oh I guess I forgot to post all the pics!
It is excellent!
The kit Roy made is top notch and my front crossmember is rock solid!
After 2 years of heavy abuse...everything is still solid.

Re: Front Diff Brace
I didn't notice the 5.38 : 1 gearing, wow
I (on my Chevy truck) had 5:13s on 44" tires I found my speedo dead on,..., how would yours be with those gears.
Is hwy still decent?
I had (for a year) front Dana 44 diff, with a possi and never had issue but soon as I put a locker in, bi-weekly I was breaking axle unjoints.
Then I went to a Dana 60 with locker and never broke anything after that ,..

Re: Front Diff Brace
Kev, did Roy made you just the front diff bracket shown on your drawing or your talking about the diff and cross member bushings?
As you know, i already have the bushing kit that i will install soon and if the bracket is available then might as well install it.
