Can someone please go out to their truck and put the key in the ignition. Turn it to start and then back. Remove the key from the ignition. With the door closed. And take note of whether the battery light illuminates on the dash for a second or two and then goes out. And reply back to me.


I've owned my 03 just short of two years. The battery it came with crapped out a couple of months after purchasing the truck. No biggie I replaced it with an oem spec'd battery. 6 mos later start having issues again. Have that battery replaced under warranty.


Now the deuce doesn't get driven everyday and I don't think it is a parasitc drain. (But it could be)

I believe it is the ignition cylinde. Sometimes when I pull the key from the ignition the battery light stays lit on the dash. This is because the ignition cylinder isn't all the way back but yet still allows removal of the key. And I'm talking a 1/16th a slight turn and the light goes out. Last night the battery was dead and I think I didn't make sure I had the key turned all the way back last time I drove it.


This is why I need someone to do what I asked above for me please. Not sure if the battery light comes up everytime the key is removed or if the computer is telling me the battery is on its way out.

Thanks I didn't think that light came on after I first purchased the battery. I was getting 13.8vdc from the alternator to ground. And 13.8vdc across the battery when I metered it last night.


Maybe has to do with the alarm system I had installed. They broke my mirror and wouldn't own up to it. So I don't have much confidence in their workmanship either.


May swap the ignition cylinder and see if it goes away. Problem is I may not see it for another 6 mos.
