Sugarphreaks NEW H3T Bumper!

Post by Sugarphreak »

Just so everybody is aware.... Road Armor recently downgraded thier winch capacity on this bumper from 12K to 9K... I assume this is mostly as a direct result of major problems I have been having with the winch compartment... which for the record doesn't actually fit most 9000lb winches either.

Ok, ok.... I sold out and bought one instead of building it from scratch, but have a look at the pictures and see if you can still blame me  <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/grin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';D' />

I picked it up from Road Armor directly for a pretty fantastic discounted price, shipping of course was pretty expensive. After it was all said and done I was in for around 2500$ CAD, which isn't bad considering the MSRP alone is 2750$ USD. Would like to extend my thanks to Kev for putting me in touch with the right people over at RA.

Anyway, here are some pictures!

That Bumper looks great!  I've installed a few Road armor Bumpers on gm and dodge 3/4 tons before and none have turned out as good as this one did.

I also seen your post on Hummerforum.com, if you want a hand getting it on I'm not in Calgary for a few weeks to visit, but if you don't have it on in two weeks or so let me know and I can give you a hand, I'll be in cow town again all day the 19th i'm free. Let me know if you'd like a hand with it.

Yeah the quality of the finish kind of blew me away, somebody really spent some time on it to get it right.

Thanks Waldo, I appreciate the offer!

Well it is on, but a few complaints;

1) No bolts... had to go out and buy bolts to assemble it, my guess is they were accidentally left out.

2) The tow hook holes don't match up, despite hours of fiddling with the frame rail extensions and banging them around I couldn't get them to line up. They will have to be re-drilled to allow the bolt to go through.

3) The stock skid pan cannot be re-used. Without the skid pad the radiator is left totally exposed from below. Right now I am looking at the option of having somebody custom make one for me.

Other than that the overall quality and fitment is pretty good. The bumper lines up to almost less than 1/4" with the body, practically flawless fitment. It is held to the frame with no less than eight grade-5 bolts so it is very study as well. The appearance is also pretty sweet & approach angle is the same or better than stock, not too oversize at all IMO.

Pics to follow, I still need to clean up and tuck some of the plastic shielding.

Ok with ARB unit everything lined up all hardware fit . only add ons were longer bolts for winch paint for cut off mounts. Your alignment problem stems from Gm changing frames on H3's and H3T's after 08 year as the base vehicle Colorado pick up was discontinued. awaiting pics

The physical frame width was actually ok; where the problem I have is the independent extensions that slide into the frame rails have the holes about 1/4" too high. I could see if the frame tube itself was a different size, is that kind of what you meant?

It has been FREEZING here lately, was -29 this morning. I haven't had the courage to brave the garage and drill in the holes yet. Brrrrr!!

I still need to figure out who I am going to talk to about having a custom skid plate made. Any ideas?
